So what if they decided to make a Shadowbane II, minus the bugs, the lag, and the general unreliability that was so prevelant in the first? This is a common point of discussion amongst my friends and myself since we all loved the concept of the first game but we feel (as I hear from most others who have played) that it was simply poorly implemented. Very poorly. So, would anyone else be excited about a SB II if it was released without lag/bugs?

It is in many ways a SB2 or a UO2. It wont have lore of SB, but it will be the closest thing you will get. Read the FAQ, you wont be disappointed.
If a frog had wings it wouldn't bump its ass hopping.
Darkfall will be the next best thing in field of totally open pvp.
My only gripe is that everything's so too darn bright! ...even the screenshots hurt my eyes
Hmm with Irith, Darkfall, D&L and RV all coming out with similar concepts it'll be interesting to see which one survives.

Haven't played any of them yet and Darkfall isn't in beta so I'm not willing to count it as anything but "potential vaporware" at this point. If/when it reaches a closed/open Beta phase I'll start taking it a bit more seriously but right now there's not even a playable beta out there so..... there's no guarantee, despite the DEV's glowing remarks on their progress, that it'll ever see release.
I know it's got a solid following and the Dev team seems really dedicated. But untill I can get my hands on a playable game I always always always consider it vaporware... and even once it's in beta it's still possible it won't release.
IF Darkfall lives up to it's promises it'll be a fantastic title... as will Irith, D&L and RV. Remember: NONE of these games has been released yet and most are still in early Beta.... so judging them on anything other than "potential" is foolish right now.
Until you have a released product don't count on a game (or count it out).
I think, even if they ALL release they are going to have trouble getting market share fighting against giants like FFXI, EverQuest and WoW that are established and have aggressive marketting campaigns. That and the Fantasy MMO market is getting pretty crowded... even with the huge influx of players WoW brought into the Genre it's going to be interesting to watch how things break out when all these Fantasy MMO's in development hit the shelves (if they hit the shelves).
I'm not going to speculate on which one might do well... I'll just enjoy watching the results.

I too am not awaiting a shadowbane 2 but Darkfall--maybe at this point it is vaporware but I hope the company and the money people behind the company realize what a godsend Darkfall has the potential of being.
Shadowbane's concepts were not poorly implemented, and that is not why people quit and it failed in the eyes of most. The lag was a major issue, but you have to think that SB was a breakthrough in a way, totally seamless world where the player could affect the environment in so many ways, they did not have the serverpower or technology at first to handle what they were doing. After time things got better and lag was no longer an issue. Most people quit because the game was harsh, building a city for months for someone to come steal it cause you got the better hunting spot closer to you than them. Alot were cry babies because some errant stole the rune they camped for 4 hours. SB was one of those games with semi harsh consequences for PvP and dying, everyone begged for it, but didn't like it when they got it.
A lot of my friends and I feel the same as you do JesustheRed, and if DNL fails us we refuse to play another MMORPG until Shadowbane 2.
Shadowbane was a good game--and I dont feel like it got the credit it deserved.
They did alot of things very right and guilds were actually Guilds and not just people on a friend list.
But it was by no means a flawless game.
Shadowbane didnt have crap for content and crafting was nonexistent.
Hey Im all up for a shadowbane 2
IF there dead set on making one of the best mmo's to date.
If there not up for that challenge, there are plenty of developers that are and I wholeheartedly welcome there vision.
I hate when people complain about SB having no content, and no crafting. I played for about a year or so when it first came out. They are right about the content, but there were more GM events in that game in the first year than all the other MMORPG games I have played combined.
As for crafting, there was not crafting in the traditional sense, but let me lay it out:
You can either buy or farm mobs for extremely rare drops for merchants and types of buildings. You build/craft a city, and then upgrade your merchants so they can make better items. You could never predeterine the outcome of what the merchant would make, it could be godly, or it could suck, just a chance you had to make, and it cost you money to make that item, support that merchant, support the building, and support the city and tree of life. It is a crafting system, just not one where you combine gold and a diamond to make a ring that gives you +1 to your hp. There was no you make the item crafting, but then dwarves did get the ability to become forge masters, let them modify some items.
That's not crafting. Sorry, not by a long shot. That's NPC Vendors that spawn semi-random items. People who want CRAFTING want to make the items themselves.

Crafting is besides the point, that was never a part of Shadowbane I and if by some miracle they made an SBII then I highly doubt it would make it in as one of the features nor would I care if it was missing. What I miss from SB and the reason why I so fervently hope that a SBII is created is because of the positives that other people listed.
-Guilds actually served a purpose
-Death could occur anytime anywhere
-Rich lore (if you took the time to read it)
-City building and other player created environments
It is these qualities that I would love to see in another game like SBII (though now that I have taken a good look at Darkfall I am beginning to think that it will more than fit the requirements of what I'm looking for).
I just want to kill people and for some reason Guild Wars doesn't cut it. A guild battle doesn't have 1/100th the excitement that a Bane did or even a tree camp back in the day.
