The latest Astellia trailer showcases The Colosseum, an enclosed space where parties of players take on ever-increasingly difficult waves of monsters. The goal is to reduce the number of monsters as quickly as possible which challenges party members to perform their roles successfully. Luckily, resurrection is automatic so players can rejoin the fray.

I am interested in checking this out, but not buying a pack for it. Went to their site to see if I would be surprised, but let down as usual. I am proud of myself for finally being screwed over enough times with cash grabs that I do not buy these founder packs anymore.

Remember when MMO's were free during beta to promote massive testing? Sadly the majority now are cash grabs, if they allowed free beta access you might just see how crappy the game is. Not saying that is the case with this game, but as long as they charge for beta access I am skeptical.

One key point with this game and any other UE3 game video you watch. All these devs cut the video footage so you can't see the graphics hitching that plagues the game engine. Watch the video above, not one complete ability cycle is seen in that video. You can catch the graphics hitching in most of their videos, you just have to pay attention.

I am already stocking up on jiffy pop for the end of year for this release, its going to be so much fun to watch.

I very well may be with my predictions, as you very well may be yourself.

One thing is for certain, we have all seen this play out about 20 times over now from the East.  So until I see things change in that regard, I will sit here and keep spouting off as I see it.  Old  WISE man, closed mind thinking at its finest.

Oh I'm sure this game will get a few thousand numbers at launch. Hell, it might even do close to Bless numbers at launch. Then the shine wears off. But hey, since this game is originally f2p anyway, I'm sure any numbers they hit upon launch is a net-profit, just like it was for Bless. Unfortunately, those 'wonderful people' that like to say to themselves "its my money, I spend it on whatever I want" will always get taken advantage since they have more money than time. But maybe they feel its worth it in the long run. Personally, I hate seeing people getting taken advantage of it, especially if there is easy to find information out there that can easily prevent it. Its pretty much why tele-marketers get so excited when they get an elderly person on the phone. Utterly disgusting.

After playing this game extensively for the Beta, pretty much the whole game.. I suggest not buying it. It should be launching as a FTP, simple as that. It might have had some success if it did. Launching as BTP is self destructive.. by the time it goes FTP, and it will, no one will care and the core players will already be gone or will leave because they got ripped off. Same story as Bless... definition of insanity.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

They do have key giveaways and such to play the beta for free. I have never bought a founders pack for any game (seen way too many friends get burned), but I did receive a key and played this one all weekend for free. There will be a CBT 2, so I would keep watching for key giveaways.

As for the game itself. I found it enjoyable. It doesnt really do anything new or special, but it is pretty smooth. The leveling curve was paced properly, combat is fun if not super exciting, and the extra game modes do add some things to do at endgame. Other than that, it reminds me of Everquest after the introduction of mercenaries. It appeals to solo and duo players, as there isnt much content you cannot do solo/duo with the pet system (astels). I will be looking for a key for my wife so we can both try it together during CBT 2.

Again, nothing too new to the genre, but if you have nothing better to play, it is still quite fun. I hate to admit it, but I am enjoying it more than both Bless and BDO (although to be fair that could be just because its new, and I have played the others extensively already).

Curious how many birds will buy this game. I will prepare myself for a second laugh. First one was on Bless. This game will promise people it will not become p2w because it's b2p just like BDO did. On top of that for people that don't enjoy thinking much. This game have a +20 enhancing equipment. The company will be stupid not to put something like 100% enhance rate into the cash shop. Hell it got even for character stats for rerolls from what i seen.

    Care to elaborate?

I will just say the game is not marketing itself as the Savior of MMORPGS, however and particularly you are making it seem as if it will be the end of days when it launches. I played the CBT its got things going for it and somethings it doesnt and that is ok.

I leveled 3 chars to 50. Archer, Warrior, and Assasin. It does not play or feel like bless at all. Skills feel weighty, movement is ya ok. Better character models, better skill tree, you set your own macros as opposed to being forced to use a preset path.

Questing is the same as any other, generic point A to point B, but were you expecting more, its WoWish questing. Standard run of the mill gear progression system.

Astels are a cool twist but nothing that blew me away, some of the character models are annoying some are funny.

There is an old school style of min/max'ing your character which alot of old schoolers will like. However its not in yet but these same mechanics i can see it being used as a path of P2W.

Optimization the big one. I have a great gaming rig so this point of view will be biased. I was running on 4k res locked vsync and dipped below 60 a few times even then only by a few frames. I did make it a point to keep my eyes on fps and didnt dip below 55. The game does have moments where it stutters. However its wierd i cant explain it. The closest description i can make is it seems like your character is coming up on a server line and has a quick hiccup and goes back to normal when you cross the server line. Similar to what would happen in Lineage 2. It doesnt happen often but it happens nothing game breaking like Bless.

Longevity i would say this is a game that i would play 6-12 months barring the devs dont fall flat on their face with launch. What i saw from the cbt tho systems feel polished.

Overall for this cbt i would give 7.5/10 because we only got to see PvE side of things.

I will def say Bless and Astellia should not draw the same comparisons.

I did not even get to play this beta that much but the game seemed pretty fun. Combat was good and I am glad to have some tab target back with class roles like Tank / Healer. I try not to play much of a game until open beta when my progression will carry over.

Have you played the game lol. I doubt your concern for my money is genuine. Its not my problem you value $50 differently then i do. In what business does a company release a product not to make a profiit?

The shine wears off on all things.

it's a pattern, if you step back and look at the posting , you can see a clear defined line of discrediting Korean games. North American developers can't survive with another hit like Black Desert Online.
black desert a hit?..... there is not many "western" MMO anyway, most are korean, and there is that odd japanese, and some sneak low quality garbage chinese.

if anything, I belive the western MMO main problem is they don't look for other markets, most are happy just to not IP block people from other countrys and let then play there, when some koreans MMO did a lot on launching servers in several parts of world
FOR HONOR, FOR FREEDOM.... and for some money.
