See, this is what an HONEST review looks like. Mr. Shankar is either completely ignorant of how games should be designed (as in NOT HOPELESSLY BROKEN), or he's been paid off. Either way, it's 'journalists' like him who are pushing the mainstream gaming press out of relevance and into bankruptcy. This game is getting an average of 77 on Metacritic, might I suggest that a 90 is too high?
You could if substantiate the premise with reasoning and logical arguments otherwise no you may not suggest it.

This game is a dumpster fire of the highest caliber, the very least they could've done is not have bad mechanics from other mediocre games shoved into this game. I'm looking at you AI rez mechanics.
Then again this very same site gave the unfinished bug-ridden, "please pay pay" again for a hamfisted completed FFXV a 9/10, a higher score than the current Final Fantasy MMO in which the audio actually works on all platforms.
A 9 out of 10... Even when I think the cons (review as a whole really) aren't well done, they don't reflect a game that is one point away from perfect score.
It will be hard taking any review here serious if this is going to be the way. You need more than MMO's to survive, fine... but at least have some standards/integrity.

User reviews/scores are pegging the game at closer to being a 3/10. The suggestion that the game should have been a $10 DLC for the previous game seems to have a lot of merit too.
It's sad to see what they've done to Wolfenstein. When New Order came out, I thought it was a pretty alright game with some flaws that could be fixed in future games. Then came New Colossus, a bad game with even more flaws, and a cringe worthy political message that basically came straight from Antifa terrorists. Now we have Young Blood, which is just a complete dumpster fire which would be a poor attempt from an indie studio, much less a giant of the gaming industry.
5 years ago the idea that Bethesda should stop making games before they ruin their legacy forever would have seemed absurd. Now all I can say to that idea is "HELL YEAH, DUDE!" every 5 seconds, for 10 hours.

Ign gave it a 6.5 which is a fair score. One wonders how mmorpg.com gave it a 9.
I gave the game a 7 / 10. It's not perfect, but it's not absolutely horrible either. Given you have a friend to play with, the game is fun for what it is. If you go into it expecting it to be a continuation of New Colossus, with a great story, and you're going to be left utterly disappointed.

It was created from the ground up to be played with another player, and to simply go in and murder Nazis.
The AI is horrible. It left me laying on the ground waiting to be revived, time and time again, until all my lives were used up and I had to restart. All the while standing right ontop of me. Half the time she stood there and wouldn't engage in combat.
Everyone reviews games differently. We all have our own opinions on what makes a game good or not, and if he thought it was a 9, well so be it. It's up to the users, you guys, to decide if you like the game or not, reviews only nudge you in that direction. I never, ever take one review as gold. I read multiple reviews prior to buying anything.
That said, It's fun for what it is, a Nazi Killing, Over-the-top mayhem with awesome guns, all playable with a friend.
I don't buy into the SJW or PC bullshit. I've seen it in games in the past, I don't see it here.
While I despise the whole "oh this is just some SJW content" bullshit, I still have no love for the alternate history era of the Wolfenstein games. Fighting Nazis in the WWII era is fine, fighting them out of historical context I find incredibly absurd. It feels like they are trying way to hard to keep their franchise relevant, and just beating a dead horse. They feel to me like the totally unnecessary fourth Indian Jones film, where they are insulting not only their audience, but the dignity of their own franchise as well. What's next, fighting Nazis on the fucking moon?
The Wolfenstein franchise has been not historically accurate since the first iteration of the game. You fight Hitler in a mech suit. You fight enemies that wear cloaks and shoot magic.
That was definitely NOT the first iteration. You're thinking of Wolfenstein 3D. There was no mecha-Hitler in '81 in Castle Wolfenstein.

But I for one will not accuse the reviewer of shillery as many are inclined to do. Just bad taste in games.
It surprised me that Jim Sterling was actually somewhat positive about it. He does emphasize the GaaS crap going on but he liked the way the co-op mode is done and even liked the goofy sisters humor. Like you say, different tastes.
