Regardless the bitter comments here, in the mainstream gaming world and gaming streaming this is a big deal.

I'm curious to see how the community (numbers) react to this. If his brand can carry viewers there or people use twitch the same way they use to watch tv: Because they are too lazy to switch channels.
Oh please.  If any person with half a brain watches this kid stream for 5 min they'll quickly realize what a twot he is.  He's an arrogant prick with zero coordination and athleticism yet he's labeled an esports athlete... Hilarious.  The guy is a dickhead who treats people in his community horribly and other streamers even worse.  In other words he is a shitty human being.

Mainstream gaming world and streaming... pff.  If this is a "big deal" than the gaming industry is in even worse shape than I thought.

Are the gaming community supposed to know who this guy is?

    So What Now?

This is huge news and I am glad this website reported it. I would be willing to bet that Mixer has or will approach Doc Disrepect and Shroud as well. Twitch has become a "lewd" show.

The comments pretty much sum up the MMORPG genre at the moment.

Pretty soon Twitch will be nothing but cam girl Thots selling their bath water while doing a live stream of them milking their breasts.
Its one of those really weird phenomena, that she was selling her bath water is one thing, but the most shocking thing of all, is that she sold so much of it, i don't know whether should bow down to her entrepeneurship, or laugh at all the idiots who bought it  :p

I don't understand the audience of people who watch live stream gaming, Twitch has always been really difficult for me to get into, but I do watch plenty of content on YouTube. From what I understand, it's been easier for gamers to transition from YouTube to Twitch for monetization, as advertising dollars have been so heavily restricted. Add that to the rumors regarding what it's been like for certain individuals to work with Twitch lately, and I think it's sure bet that high dollar streamers or content creators will start looking for other platforms to set up shop, I'm just not sure that a single person making the switch is going to be enough to achieve the sort of result Mixer is looking for.

With all the youtube adpocalipses, moving to, or at least also having alternate streaming and video hosting services seems to be the way forward, Twitch has competition, has done for a little while now, whether its DLive or Mixer or some other and i am sure there are a few more besides those, it is probably just a sign of the free market at work, some streamers actually stream simultaneously on multiple platforms, it has always been about the streamers, the platform used does not matter all that much to their fans, nor the games for that matter, popular Streamers are much like pop stars. Crazy world we live in these days. :/

I don't like where this streaming culture is going. I don't even like where it stands right now. And I'm saying this as someone who does watch streams. Not for the streamer, but for the game.
Though I can see how games put a part of their communication and marketing in the hands of those streamers which is complete BS to me. If I want to be communicated with I want the devs to find a direct channel with me through videos, podcasts, dev blogs etc. Not through a guy on a stream rolling ads in my face and who parrots everything the devs want to say.

I have never even heard of this guy until now, but then I wasn't raised with the current generation.  I would rather spend my time playing games instead of watching someone play.

Seriously, am I alone in the "games are to be played not watched" camp?
That could be said about sports right?

People love "watching sports." Yet sports are there to be played. I'd argue that it's more fun to play a sport than to watch a sport but I have been caught up in the action of a football or soccer game so clearly there is some enjoyment.

Same with video games. I've found myself caught up in what was happening so I'd say that it's just a different experience.

This is why I'm trying to be less and less active on this forum. Some of the comments are just... I'm scared that when I get a little bit more older and have kids etc, I'll become like this too. I don't wanna hate anything new or bash anyone who likes different things than me.  This is really scary. I'm really sorry for you...
um, no one can make you think something you don't want to think so I wouldn't really fret.

You mean the shill streaming site is losing its biggest shill to a competitors shill streaming site?

Awesome! This is the quality news we all come here to read......a person whose existence is entirely dependant on the game industry sucking so bad that under developed BR games are somehow....popular.

I defended this site in another thread about broadening it's content coverage to compensate for the sad state the mmo genre is in. But this is scraping the absolute bottom of the barrel afaic.

    LOL I know...

BR games are such trash and this guy is the epitome of human trash and those who play BR are also trash.
I don't like BR Games myself but calling other people Trash because of the games they like to play is pretty Ignorant.
Just because someone likes the Games you do not like does not make them Trash.

Seriously though, I love this, Not so much because I'm a fan of this "Ninja" kid but more so because Twitch has become a vile platform, With this kids following the streaming site he went to has gained a tremendous amount of power over night just from signing him, This is the Lebron James of E Sports we are talking about.

I recently discovered this boobie streamer from Canada who threw her cat over her chair, force spit vodka into its mouth and has slew of other accusations . Despite multiple animal groups and her local animal society calling for her ban Twitch has not only failed to take any action against her but won't even issue a public statement regarding the matter. There are thousands of other streamers who's accounts were either suspended or permanently banned for much less.

Twitch has a long history of biased and political based moderating which I wont go into detail here for obvious reasons. Many of the larger streamers are fed up with what the site has become/becoming and are chomping at the bit to move their "enterprise" some place else. Ninja will be the first in what i believe will be many more Big name ""professional gamers"" to jump ship.

Twitch's Inevitable decline is not a matter of If but when. Their own foolish bias and what they have turned their website into "just chatting/soft core porn girls" has left many with a sour taste in their mouth. Eventually the parent company Amazon will be forced to intervene.

"Get back in touch with my roots" .... I think he's full of shit. Translation: "Microsoft bought me an Island, so peace Twitch" Not that I care where he streams, but he's full of it.

People that stream games are wannabes.  They don't have the where with all to play the game themselves.  As to the streamers, kids who live in a dreamworld.  Saw on a resume the other day, someone put down they had a streaming following.  That resume went into the trash fast.
  • kilunkilun Member UncommonPosts: 829
Fuck Ninja. Fuck streaming. The last thing society needs are more useless celebrities.ud
Do you watch sports?  Same thing.  Only your giving the owner the money, not the player.

Sounds like a lot of people on here are a bit peeved they aren't great at video games and can't make bank doing it.

The dudes been making cash off games all his life and runs it like a business with his wife.  But hey, lets just bash pro-gamers because it isn't a job because you know, some people can get paid to do what they enjoy or are at least good at (maybe he hates all games, a lot of sports player don't love the game anymore they love the cash because they are good enough at it)

This is kinda reminding me of the old days of the battle of the networks (which is still kinda ongoing, but, people are more used to that)

"Back in my day, we had 3 channels, and we liked it that way"

Anyway.. good luck to him and his venture.

Good to see gaming becoming more mainstream as time passes on, and entering the Entertainment and Professional fields.

No idea why people flock to watch him,i think mostly they see a large audience and just hangout.

I feel like he has always been sponsored by Epic but not announcing it.Now he is  sponsored by Microsoft,no other reason to just change up your routine when you are making so much money. So i would assume Microsoft is paying him a lot of money, kind of douchy to me how businesses try to BUY their way to the top.

No matter to me,i only watched him once to see what it is all about and there is nothing there,he is a meaningless streamer to me.
