no way would this ever happen here. i mean if they dont ban games like gtasa why would they put a age limit on a "T" rated game? this is usa not a frickin communist country like china. besides there is far to much money in this industry to just ban kids from playing. think about it... if they did that because of the "fighting" think about how many other games that have violence that they would have to do that to....

I said heading in that direction, wether it actually reaches the same end is something else. Dont kid yourself, with a possible ultra right wing conservative supreme court when chief justice rehnquist leaves or dies. This is not a sky is falling argument rather that is the direction government is taking.

As for big money, hollywood and the entertainment industry supports democrats far more than republicans, many republicans would like nothing less than to censor hollywood. Of course they wont call it censorship they will label it the  "protecting our children" bills.

It is indeed rather heavy handed, but it is their version of the ESRB. More extreme and severe, yes, but not much different.

And after all those crazy gang shootings over in Korea over games like Lineage; it obviously makes you see from their standpoint a bit.

Oh, and for those saying that something like this will happen in America because of far right conservatives in power. Just remember who was in charge of the crusade against GTA:SA.

It would seem that in doing that, and it is true i have links to the articles, that it could up domestic violence. I know i was a violent person to other people before i had a video game to take it out on. Why bother going outside to kill people when i can do it from the comfort of my own chair.

If anything, banning kids from playing will only make the community worse, little kids trying to be "badasses" breaking the law to play a game. Think about drinking and smoking, I know more underage people who drink and smoke than I have met older people.

Video games offer a release for kids, and in the US domestic violence, teen pregnancy, and school shootings have all gone down in percentages. I have the facts if someone would like to see them, just ask.

The problem is we have alot of people with old world views running things today, people who are scared of what they do not know. Alot of people in power make claims before they know all the facts, and also like to place alot of blame.

They say John Doe walked into a store and shot 15 people, theorists blame it on the fact that he played a PvP MMORPG, but they forgot to look at the fact that his parents raped and beat him as a child, his friends take advantage of him, he just got fired and his wife filed for a divorce.

But yea it's all just a bunch of commy bullsh*t.

I think your right, there's a lot of consequences that need to be taken into consideration because of this move.

I agree with this law but i also dont agree with it. First cause about 90% of ppl that are 17 or less suck at mmorpgs and become annoying beggars, spammers, botters, etc... But i don't agree with it cause then i wouldn't be able to play them and i'm pretty good at these kind of games and im not an annoying spammer who justs says stupied crap and that sucks. So what they should do is not put an age limit cause im pretty sure some adults desever it to. But make you go thur a test where they decide if your fit to play online games where you kill other people or not. Not sure how that would work but someone would make a process for it. And if ever someone passes that kind of law in the U.S better pray he lives for that month.

Remeber where not all a bunch of little annoying retards that suck.

And then they do something like this:

    http://biz.gamedaily.com/features.asp?article_id=10225&section=feature&email=

The Chinese government investing nearly 2 billion dollars in online gaming. That's a hefty amount of money. Of course, the only thing I think is a for sure bet for a Chinese MMOG is that is likely to be not only government funded but government run.

While it would be a good idea to get rid of beggars and spammers, that is not how you would see who is "fit" to play these games. In fact the person who takes it most seriously might be the person less "fit" to play that game.

Say John Doe here is top of his server at X class, he's only 16, but he knows what he's doing, doesn't spam, beg, or anything, he's just really good at playing the game. All the sudden he loses his account or loses a long string of PvP fights, so he decides to go on a rampage and kill people at school.

I see from your point of view, saying that all people under the age of 18 aren't retards who beg for help, items, and money, but let's face it, most underage people are. When was the last time you saw a 58 year old man playing EQ beg for money in the bazaar, just a thing that you gain with maturity, nothing personal.

Different games and movies have different ratings here in the USA. Its not really against the law to play a game or watch a movie which has a rating that says you shouldnt be playing it. You just can't buy it, so you have your parents buy them. But even if it was against the law to play or watch them, wouldnt you still???

i can honestly say i still probably would.
I think it'll be somewhat the same case in China. Their parents will pay and they will play.
