It's paying for a new progression and ranking system that allows you to earn cosmetics.
It's definitely a cash grab.. but achievements are just another form of cosmetic in the first place. If paying for an(other) achievement system is wrong then so is paying for skins and emotes.
There's already a normal achievement system in the game, don't forget.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
There may come a day when it becomes impossible to do anything without paying to be able to do it.

Same guy that said "We talked to our players and they said they were cool with buying ammo in a cash shop after 100 hours of gameplay, since they have gotten more than enough value out of our game".
