Someone on the main forums mentioned that this was 3 months after the last one. Wasn't keeping track but could be true.

Had a ton of fun playing legendary servers but ran out of stuff to do pretty quick. Moria brought the weapon grind but after that endgame is pretty much RP stuff and level alts.

This is about the point when the game starts falling apart for me. The quest lines become tedious and unfulfilling. The gear wheel churn grind starts ramping up with LIs. It's just starting with RoI, but hits full speed with Riders and Helm's Deep. It just starts slogging down so hard from here to Mordor.

That's the thing, I've been enjoying myself but as I progress, the thought of repeating certain parts of the content is giving me second thoughts about continuing.

I might just cut bait and go back to Brandywine.  :/

They are definitely going too fast. No one wants to be on a server that's one or two xpacs behind.

    If only this were true.

Moria came at 4 months, but with only 3 days notice.

Mirkwood came at 3 months, with less than 24 hours notice. People were angry about that and asked that it not happen again.

Isengard has now come after what's closer to 2.5 months, and again with less than 24 hours notice. People are angry again.

Really wish I could get into lotro since I have a lifetime sub with it, may just download it again and give it another try.

This is actually what my Lotro column is about for tomorrow...

    I agree.

Moria was their best expansion, and one of the best MMO expansions of all time.  Both new classes were great (once they got some love) the zone was great, the music and atmosphere was great, the loot was great and even the Legendary Weapon system was great because it was new....it became awful over the course of the next 5 years.

Mirkwood was the F2P era, and you can tell by the zone design.  Quest hubs, one leading to the next.  If you remember, the original Moria was nothing like the revamped one, the whole game was spread out.

But you have to have quest hubs so you can sell the quest packs in the store.  Everything needed to be sold in little chunks from here on out.  Mirkwood LOOKED amazing, especially after you crossed over from Lorien.   And the epic questline was still really good at that point.

But it all came to a crashing halt were Isengard was released.  Everything took a nose dive.  The music was the worst.  Moria had dwarven chorus and Lorien had sweeping elven music.  But with Isengard, they changed the musician.  I don't think they could afford the other guy, and what you got was ramdom trumpet sounds and other brass instruments.  Just awful.

The zone looked bad too, with those enormous cows, and it just did not look like actual geography.  Up until that point, everything looked great.  The art direction was amazing.  But with Isengard, it just looked brown.

It was a misery to play through that expansion, and the end area gave you a little taste of what was to come.  All those Orcs at Isengard with their stuns and disarms.  Stun, stun, stun stun, disarm, stun.....It was so bad that the next area, Dunland, was named Stunland...

Eventually the game got better with Rohan, but the damage was done.  Mordor was actually a great expansion....the whole thing looked amazing and the first time you rode past that hill and the black gate came into view...wow.

But, at that point, the game was and still is on life support.

Maybe it's time for them to dust off the "Take the hobbit to Isengard" GM event
Sapience is gone now but I'm sure Cord can play the part just as much.

Of course the competition wouldn't be against the existing times, since these two servers have no high level players to clear the path... It'd still be a fun competition between the two legendary servers, which one is the faster, better organised for the job.

Mirkwood was the F2P era, and you can tell by the zone design.
I don't think that was the case, by the time it turned out DDO's f2p is a success, Mirkwood was on its way already... Can't say it for certain though, I believe there was a mention of the f2p switch preparations has started in the summer, after Mirkwood's launch in the spring.

Agree on the rest, especially Stunland, and its very own Lagtrev :)

Rise of Isengard. One of the worst expansions they released for that game, next to Helm's Deep. /ugh

Lotro is my first mmorpg, played since 2009, 4 alts on top level with proper geared, the rest 8 alts are all above level 60, every professions are maxed, one day a long while ago, I logged out and don't feel log back in lotro again, properly won't log back in for very long time. Hmm, legendary server? no, thanks, don't feel like to start grinding from scratch again like I did 2009. There are plenty modern mmorpg out there, TIME TO MOVE FORWARD!

That's part of the reason why I am going to go back to Brandywine from the Legendary servers. Some of the content is dreadful. For me, Helm's Deep should have been an amazing expansion given what it means to the story.

I hated every bit of it. It was so anticlimactic. Quite frankly it needs to be redone.

I didn't mind Isengard so much. There's that town called heitbolt or some such thing and that was a huge slog.

Kind of sad, due to SSG mechanics induced mainly through their store, there were level 75's by evening on the legendary servers.  Considering how much traveling the quests require in that area they had to have everything planned down to the minute detail even with insane leveling rates.

Completely defeats the intent of the legendary servers.
