Refrigerators are expensive. I've had to get close to 3 in a single calendar year thanks to issues buying used ones just to save a buck. But should digital fridges be expensive? Thanks to a new item sold in Fallout 76, that discussion has now been explored.

yep, be careful what you ask for ;)

"A fridge/freezer for our C.A.M.P" next time, try asking for "A FREE (or cheap) fridge/freezer for our C.A.M.P"!

Yes, Diablo 2 is probably a top contender... or Diablo 2 players are, I should say.

There should be a way to craft this fridge, really.. but I wouldn't say it's P2W, it's just a QoL item. Just means you can spend a bit less time scavenging.

This isn't even a big deal. People need to stop crying about this. This isn't P2W it's just a useful item for your C.A.M.P. and earning Atoms isn't even that hard.
I feel like people are just looking for an excuse to hate on the game, like always.

At this point, sadly imo, we know what this game is about & what the company has become so why act surprised?

Its creepy that people still get upset over MTX. It's not new, and its not going away. Get over it.

Meh, I've earned far more than 700 free Atoms just playing the game but never had anything useful to spend them on

This just changed and I may return as food spoilage and scavenging was a big turn off.

They selling additional storage space yet? (Or expanded it past 600) If so I most definitely am coming back.

I agree %100. I was mad in the very beginning but by this point I know that my voice doesn't matter so I just ignore them
Creepy isn't the word. Not by a longshot. Complacency is what has allowed them to gradually push it farther and farther. All of those "my voice doesn't matter" adds up.

Not that I mind in this case. Cosmetics and convenience never bothered me, as I come from an MMO background.

I do, however, think that a case could be legitimately made that convenience is pay to win in a survival game. Survival games are, after all, defined by constantly dealing with and overcoming inconvenience. It's why I find them annoying and boring, not fun.

So getting upset over getting ripped off is creepy because it's not new and it's not going away?

    A+ logic there bud

Can you see applying this to other shit behaviors

Tell your wife - cheating with other girls is not new and it's not going away - stop being CREEPY!

    ;)

I think @Utinni meant it's sort of like getting mad when it rains, you can't do jack about it or if you can its not likely to change, so just deal with it.

The proper analogy is someone that is 95 years old still complaining about pre-marital sex, that person can scream for abstinence as much as possible, but it's not gonna happen, too much momentum and people getting used to it. So it may be creepy that someone is still complaining about it.

Cheating on your wife is like a company hacking your own account to sell, one behavior is completely and utterly unacceptable, the other behavior is frowned upon, big difference.

What a lot of people continue to overlook/ignore is you can earn these items in game by playing.
How many games out there allow you to earn the premium game currency where you can buy these things after a few weeks?
Im not sure which is worse, listening to the whiny entitled generation, or gaming sites skimming reddit and publishing that uninformed dribble as some sort of news.

Charging for products that are 100% optional in video games is the same as cheating on your wife? Seems like you're stretching reallllllllly far to try to insult me there bud. Nice try though.

As a staunch player of FO76 and ESO (and yes this also applies to ESO), my issues are two-fold.

First, this goes against everything they (Bethesda) have been saying especially in FO76. I will agree that its not truly pay to win but arguments can made that is pay to serious advantage. In both games, the slippery slope of "what is acceptable in the cash shop" has gotten worse. In 76 it was repair kits, now its a fridge and a scrap collecting robot. In ESO, it was werewolf and vampire skill lines...then skyshard unlocks and now its all skill lines like Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood and Fighters guild. The slope is sloping.

And that brings me to the next point. What's next? Clearly Bethesda will do everything they can to continue to stretch the definition of what is acceptable to sell in a cash shop. It will only get worse. And at some point we as consumers have to say enough is enough. And for each of us that is a personal decision. For me, personally, they made my decision today and made it very easy.

Clearly people in this thread saying it's not a big deal so get over it have good intentions......and we all know where that path leads.... right to my Doorstep!

You're asking people to play a game and unlock stuff instead of buying instant gratification so they can complain about there being nothing rewarding in playing the game they bought. You make no sense, sir /endsarcasm

Well, I stopped playing ESO because of their money raising strategies. I will never play lootbox games, period. I didn't buy Fallout 76 because I no longer trust them. And I will pass on all of their future games until I see reviews and clear evidence that they won't pull these sorts of in game cash grabs. People in this industry should pay attention to the terrible reputation that their short term thinking is getting them. At this point it's indie games for me, almost exclusively. And I'm totally ok with the industry having the garbage practices that they're using being outlawed. And there are a lot of people like me, like it or not...
