Internet Outage

In the good ol' US of A, Internet outages are a commonplace occurrence. Our infrastructure sucks. But I do get to smile when I go to pay my ISP bill and there is this button to click to see if there is an outage in my area. Really? A button to let me know if my area has an outage on a webpage? Seems kind of a waste of space since I can't use it if my Internet is down!
I also test my ISP speed at a speedtest site every now and again just to make sure my ISP is "up to the speed I'm paying for" and they also have an outage button.
Isn't this akin to calling the phone company if your service goes down? In other words... useless?
Is it just my own warped mind that finds this funny, or have others noticed this? Just curious

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.- FARGIN_WAR
