    * SOE has taken over Customer Support duties: which means there is none (nearly every petition is answered with "Thanks for submitting a petition. Now go to the Sony support site if you actually want help" -- except the Sony site doesn't offer support for MxO)

    * The press release announcing the buyout was June 17th, the 80 employees being fired from Monolith were given 60-day notice, so we still have about 10days till ALL functions for MxO are 'officially' in SOE's hands.

    * The majority of those who will still be working on MxO have moved into their SOE offices [Read this here]

    * Fix? Well, the 9 servers are now three, so any server architecture supporting Downtown has been shifted to cover the heavier loads at Mara C, making Baldwin Heights especially a lag fest on the best systems with no other players in the vicinity.

    * My <sarcasm>favorite</sarcasm> part of the letter linked above:

The development team is hard at work, planning, prototyping and testing new systems and enhancements to the existing systems.
Can you say "Combat Upgrade". Those who fled the SWG ship know how to.

    So...
The biggest issue: No, it's not available with the Station Access Pass yet.

Something that's been in development for a long while (so don't give SOE any credit for it, it was worked out before the buyout) is the Pandora's Box mission set.

    Discussed in TOSotLG Here

It's not in game yet, but in final testing. We'll see how long it takes to actually get in game though.

Still unclear whether a single player will be able to re-run these missions or merely team up with someone else who hasn't run them yet, and thereby re-earn tokens. It'll be something to do for level 50's besides pvp that shouldn't be over in a weekend.

    So, a qualified yes.

Just announced today (well, 9pm CDT on the 12th):
    Updated Transition Announcement

Full SOE Transition goes through Monday the 15th.

Also, beginning August 15th, MxO players who have an existing Station account or Station Access subscription can select their billing preference and then add The Matrix Online service to their existing account (game software is sold separately).

AIM service will be disabled (AOL/TimeWarner abandoning all but the royalties it seems?) from in-game, the existing forums will vanish and new ones will appear on SOE's site (not a transfer of the forums, no archiving), but a dinky item will be available to any non-deleted characters.

After the first paid month of SOE MxO subscription, 30 days free. -- the only good thing to come out of this I think.

It is official, the LET is dead.
Live Events characters will still appear, much more rarely and much less interactively.

I think that's the high points of the news for now

I only seem to have so much info because of how excited I was for this game. I pre-ordered based just on the training vids and screenshots, took over 100 screenshots my first day in, wouldn't shut up about it to friends, and campaigned in favor of it even when it was pushed out too quickly [the suits got greedy, devs warned them it wasn't ready -- I argued the devs, left to do their jobs would be able to handle it. With the exception of a much reduced stuck-in-interlock bug nearly all bugs present at release are gone, but too late?]. My love of the games possibilities hasn't diminished, but my faith in it being supported as it should be has. I still obsess over it, and collect as much info as I can, I just also mourn for it. Does that make me a 'fanboy', addict, or spurned lover? /shrug
    Ah well ::::39::
