If they think that all the hate from the last Blizzcon was motivated by fear that they were changing focus from PC to mobile they're still not getting it.

The problem was that they spent months coyly doling out hints that a big Diablo announcement was coming and all they had was the Immortal announcement. No one saw that coming since Diablo had always been a PC/console game.

If you're going to hype a secret project and be all mysterious and shit about it don't mislead people into thinking it's going to be a PC announcement and then pop the disappointment of no PC gaming news on them after you worked them up.

If they had announced Immortal AND D4 at the same time they would have gotten zero backlash.

The problem was their hype misdirection not that they're porting D3 to mobile. Sounds to me like they still haven't figured that out and are still talking about the fictitious "fear of PC abandonment" straw man instead of owning up to their monumental hype campaign fuck up.
They did actually say they wouldn't be announcing D4 last blizzcon. People still got upset when they didn't announce it.

How do you think people will react if D4 turns out to be a first person  style game and not an "isometric" arpg?

    At least that's the rumor.
If that happens, Blizzard could cure cancer and they'd still be dead to me.

    Clueless people at Blizzard.

This dude is Mr. “You think you want it but you don’t”, and they made him President FFS!

All people wanted to hear was that Diablo 4 was in the making.
They didn’t have to show anything, just let people know they were working on it.

Instead they totally ignored people expectations and just shoved their cheap mobile game down their throats as if it was the second coming.

And they still don’t get it one year on...

Diablo Immortal just looks like a mobile based clone or reskin of a chinese mobile clone of Diablo.
    That does NOT inspire confidence.

Yeah, I have a phone, but there's no real games on it, just uninteresting time wasters for when I'm bored and not home, and blatant cash grab trash.
Diablo Immortal looks like the blatant cash grab trash variety.

One of the reasons that mobile doesn't have real and good games is that it's a horrible platform for real games! Damn screen is too small, there is no proper interface, the controls are touch screen trash that constantly screws up the reading of what the user is doing and blocks even more of the tiny screen.
It definitely isn't where you want a detailed and immersive game to reside unless you're totally desperate or a complete moron.

Again, I have a phone, but I also have a computer that I use for games. Heck, even my crappy laptop is a better games platform than my phone, and I have a pretty decent phone.

All resources used by mobile "development" or ports are resources not available for something that I actually care about. So going whole hog on mobile DOES mean you are neglecting PCs since you haven't had a massive increase in devs to offset the drain to mobile.

Blizz has been heavily influenced and infiltrated by activision.
The company we once loved is gone.
There's no telling if it will every recover it's balls, so we'll just have to wait and see, but don't trust a single promise they make in the meantime.

You my dude, should be President of Blizzard!

Seriously though, your analysis on mobile games is spot on.
Mobiles will never be the place for real games.
Candy Crush is were they excel on, and they’ll stay that way.

Pity the gaming industry didn’t get the memo.

Nah, only sith deals in extremes.

There are good mobile games. Like Reigns.

Just stop looking into the f2p garbage bin and you'll find ones that are worth your time (and money).
I don’t think he said all mobile games are bad.
I think he meant that PC games are not usually fit for Mobile gaming.

Reigns has been designed with mobile in mind.
Simple graphic, Simple UI, simple controls.
The opposite of the majority of PC games.

Playing a PC game on a Mobile is like driving a Ferrari in a Go-cart racing track.

Er do you idiots play Diablo 3 at all? Why would anyone spend real money to buy anything in that game exactly? Are there Primals on sale in the Auction House or all these people who are commenting losers that can't finish GR rifting Torment 70? Idiots who actually think PoE is better than Diablo 3 are sick in the heart. That game is just ugly and bizarre and grossly violent and uncomfortable. Some sick minded people made that game.
I agree in part with your sentiment; Diablo 3 is the superior game overall simply because the combat is miles better, and the flexibility it offers in building your perfect character is absolutely incredible. Don't like your build? Find a new piece of gear with an effect that looks neat? Go to town, swap things around, and test it out in minutes. If it sucks, reverting back is just as easy.

PoE on the other hand is incredibly complex when it comes to character building, in theory. In practice, the damn thing constantly trips over its own complexity and completely lacks any sort of practical flexibility for those who don't have a shitload of free time available to experiment. It feels like GGG made it complex simply for the sake of doing so, not because it adds anything of value to the game. For example, they could cut the passive skill tree by half without really losing anything, but they won't because of the 'wow factor' of seeing that massive, convoluted mess on screen.

GGG does deserve credit for how creative they get with their new leagues though. Blizzard needs to take a good look at those when planning out post launch content for D4.

Art style is fine, though sometimes I do think the world of PoE is a bit too 'grimdark'. But accusing it of being 'grossly violent' is just stupid. There's plenty of f*cked up imagery in D3, it's just expressed in colors other than brown, red, and grey. If GGG are sick minded, then Blizzard is just as bad.

Both games are good and bad for different reasons to different people. There's nothing wrong with liking either of them, and people who prefer PoE are definitely not 'sick at heart'. That's just an absolutely idiotic thing to say, as is calling them 'losers'. Grow up.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to play some Grim Dawn...

AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

"We are a PC developer first, but ports won't stop," says Blizzard

There's an old saying. "Real four wheel drive trucks don't need a 4X4 decal on the side"

    (When it's real, it's obvious)

Umm... which part of "Don't you guys have phones" was designed to assure us that Blizzard was focused on PC development?

so true, dude was shocked that his presentation wasn't fully embraced. That's how clueless and disconnected he was from the players.

I'm sure diablo 4 will be fun but I'm worried about the cash shop micros that are guaranteed to be part of it this time

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women...

Every time Blizzard speaks on this subject they just dig themselves deeper and deeper. Just shut up about it.

If you have to assure your audience of something, there's probably a good reason for them to doubt your sincerity.

I fucking doubt their sincerity, and if Diablo 4 isn't good, I'm done with them.

all immortal was is a quick cash grab for china which will see a localization patch.... TBH im not expecting much outta this game as a diablo fan it will only be worth its salt in lore gameplay will be utter trash!
You may very well be right, and if Blizzard just came out and said, we are only making immortal to win back some of the money from the billions of dollars stolen from America by unregulated Chinese businesses through gross copy right infringement, so we can then pour that back into the next great PC game I'd be like.....

    Cool as shit.

Honestly, That is what I miss about D3. No way to go back in time play it during its initial hard phase again. That was fun.

LOL! PC players dont want ports tho.

Blizzard is a business, they have people that have board meetings to determine a market they should go after.
So htey target mobile, they target tcg, they target arpg, mmorpg, moba etc etc. There is however another factor, they don't seem too confident to break away from the Warcraft theme, they name the tcg hearthstone but in reality it is Wowstone.

Anyhow, they want Diablo on mobile not because they want to develop a great product, they want a game from their portfolio that makes it an EASY,cost effective transition. So this will be a low budget move, very little risk,as their board will see this as an all upside business move no matter how much flak they take.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

They can make as many mobile games as they want, it's not like i get forced to play them.

But the way they handled BlizzCon.. .ordinary people would get fired after something like this.

Had they announced Diablo Immortal at a in-between panel, and shown a Diablo IV wallpaper for 10 seconds at the end.. even the mess that is Diablo III might have been forgiven.

Amass an army, and we'll harness a horde
And then we'll limp across the land until we stand at the shore
