Am I missing something? Apocalypse is the open platform for testing mechanics.
Looking at the game news page, they are steadily releasing art and animation progress videos.
The reason we're not seeing as much transparency from the main game is the fact that its in studio work phase, whereas the Apocalypse platform is open, so patch and release notes etc. are expected.
I'm glad this ''game'' is leaving the top list of 'in development' game on this site.
They seem to be pumping out content for apocalypse a lot, while the original mmo has yet to show anything but empty areas of land (placeholder?).. There are no lore for this game being built, no heart, no wondrous atmosphere. Why can they not pump some decent content for the mmorpg when it's so easy to do for the BR?
My theory is they need to make money on APOC to fund continued development on the MMORPG.
That theory would make sense.... BUT they specifically stated before the kickstarter and all the crowdfunding started that they already had the core game fully funded and anything gained from crowdfunding would just be used for extra stuff. So, yeah, I find it hard to trust them anymore.

they only released a new map because their battle royale games were running at 20 out of 100 players, so they made this map that is 20% the size to run at a maximum of 20 instead...
if you actually believe they made a map for that reason then I have a nice bridge to sell you
k. you are free to ask around.
I honestly hope it tanks and they refund everyone from KS. Say what you will but at least Star Citizen has always been pretty clear about their intended extreme ambitions. AoC is a pure bait and switch.
Wording of the title of this article is a bit deceiving.. I was expecting Ashes of Creation not apocalypse. Not to say I don’t like Apocalypse. The image of it too shows only AoC.
Oh, I fully expected it. Seems to be becoming a trend on this site.
They seem to know that if they put Apocalypse in the title, few people are going to bother clicking it, so they leave it out on purpose.
Come back a day later and still appears it has not changed (my guess is mmorpg.com crew and Bill Murphy's Team Critical Hit fully know what they are doing for PR purposes). Again I want AoC to succeed and will be playing when it is available, more concerned of mmorpg.com's own status on this.
It's really hard to tell what they're even doing with the game anymore. They should probably hire a PR team to help communicate this stuff with potential players.
This is their Fort Nite copy cat Apocalypse, NOT the MMO. But I wouldn't be surprised if Intrepid Studios asked them to word the article this way on purpose.
Intrepid, nor any studio for that matter, has a hand in how we word our articles - it was a mistake/typo on our part. We've since clarified the post. My sincere apologies on the confusion this caused - not our intent and it's something we'll learn from and get better.

"Human beings make life so interesting. Do you know, that in a universe so full of wonders, they have managed to invent boredom. (Death)” ― Terry Pratchett,
As an original supporter and spending over $100 be be a founder for Ashes of Creation over 2yrs a go. When they announced AOC BR. I literally tweeted. (As a founder I very disappointed that you guys jumped on the Battle Royale wagon. We all original supporters bought an MMORPG concept not a BR) I swear on my kid that was the tweet. THEY LITERALLY BANNED ME FROM THETE TWITTER PAGE. If I started insulting or name calling or such, maybe just maybe ban me but for that.

Apocalypse is at the moment a game with its own monetization and released on Steam.
If it's released like a game and sold like a game then it's a game, not just some testbed.
Well, there is no entry fee and no-one is forcing you to buy anything no? I was very annoyed as well when they came out with the BR game mode, but once you get over the initial rush of feelings, it starts to make more sense.
The season pass thingy is what makes the least sense there, but apparently all the stuff carries over to the main game once it's out, so I suppose its just to reward those playing that game actively. Personally I dont care to try, I'm content watching someone else showcase the work.
