Most reasonable place to buy a PC

I spent a long time finishing my last PC, longer then you can imagine. And becuase my parents are divorced I want to get a computer for my mom's house without building it. So I was thinking of just buying one off the net off a site like alienware or ibuypower where you customize... so I wan't to know which sells then for the cheapest and best place to get a PC from, or if this really isn't the way to go.

Also I have a question.. does more memory in a video card make it better?
the more memory in a graphics card, the better, certainly. The more pc's you make the easier it gets, and I find it an enjoyable past time. But if you think it's better to buy from a site, this place won't rape you too bad... http://www.abs.com/

Here are the specs of one that I chose that seems nice... what I would change is precessor up to 4000+, memory to 2GB, hard drive to dual 80s with raid0 unles I really don't need it.. but raid is so sexy, I have no clue what that sound card is but isn't the regular one to get the audigy ZS or somthing.
I won't be getting it for a couple months when I get the money but my budget is 3k including speakers and monitor. If theres anything else I should know... tell me.
And btw, I'm going to continue making computers with my dad.. it's just not somthing I would do with my mom and alone gets tricky.
there's nothing wrong with building it yourself and taking it with you to your mom's, is there?
I really think it would be worth it to do that. oh, and don't even peak at computer specs if you're gonna be doing it a couple months from now, you don't want your comp to be 2-3 months old before you build it do you?

Drop the SLI 6600GT's, get a single 6800 GT isntead. It will be cheaper and faster.
If you want to get pc's for a good value, try cyberpowerinc.com I think they have reasonable prices and a large amoutn of customizing available. I think this site is similiar to the ibuypower site u mention. I'd only recommened this site top people who have computer hardware knowlegde, such as yourself since u built you former pc. They also allow you to choose neon light and cool cases
This site is also geared towards gamers, which i'm assuming u are since you are posting at this forum.
p.s. Does anyone know how this star system works? This is like my 40th post and I already have 4 stars. Also, does it have any advantages or just a gateway towards bragging rights. lol.

I see the rank as a gauge. If someone spends a lot of time on the site (elite member perhaps) I take their post much more seriously. if they're novice and have 50 posts, I take their post as crap. Discrimination? I suppose so.

You see, I would build it with my dad but he would never let me take it to my mom's because they hate eacothers guts. So maybe I should wait till I know a bit more and just build one solo. And ofcourse 3 months is 20 years in computer time.. but not really that long, just as long as it take me to get all of the money.
PS: How do you enable the auto-login feature! I have to log in every time I leave the site or close the browser!
Top right, "YOUR ACCOUNT SETTINGS". Check the auto-login option.

Actualy do I really need a new compthat recently, the computer I built pulls these out of a bag of chips and munches through them but..

I know you dont want to build it, but its hell of a lot cheaper then buying from a store, check out www.newegg.com
to auto logiin go to Your Account Settings at the top right hand corner of your screen then there will be a little box that says something like check this to autologin every time or something like that. You shouldnt miss it. And yes 3 months is a long time in computer technology but I think if you can do it you should build one. Save some money for other stuff like a car or women.

If you're comfortable enough with it, you can build your own, which is what I would suggest, but if not, I would try and get it for a cheaper company, Cyber Power or iBuyPower seem good to me. But you should atleast know what parts you are looking for. If you post some information on what (if anything other then games) you want to do, and how much you're looking to spend, anyone of us would be able to help you.
Edit: I see you said a 3K budget, well since you'll probabally want to buy it, seeing as you don't want to build it yourself, and your dad won't let you take it to your mom's house if you build it with him. 3K can get you a really good PC, check around at one of the places I told you, you could probabally get a slightly better deal for 1.7K then that. Anyway, I would advise, switching the two 6600GTs for a 6800 Ultra.

So did you build your last computer with you dad? Because your original post made it seem like you knew what you wanted and was just looking for a site that makes it for you without the hassle of putting it together and such. If you want, just list some of the games you plan on playing on this pc and I'm sure I, and others, can give you some specific pointer on what parts you should get. i.e. RAM, Video Card, etc.
