If you got kicked in the face you shrugged it off and got back at the guy who did it to ya. You played on real grass and mud when it rained..... Remember that... REAL MUD !

They hit harder back then too, if you got sacked good chance you lost some teeth, because only the rich players had helmets with face mask... Yha... the good old days.  They were slower back then.  Not because they were not in shape, but the had three fractures from the week before and wouldn't let anyone fix it.  



Same with mmorpgs, if you played real bad the other 5 in your group came over and beat you up and took your computer and all your stuff...... No one asked can I have your stuff ?........ they just took it !!...... I'm serious

You are talking about real mud, but remember MMORPG's were MUD's first. MUD's, where back in the day men were teens...because we were a lot younger than we are now.

The issue isnt about men used to be men. It is about the fact that the game is so violent and that the NFL cant lie and cheat about it.

The number of people playing football is decreasing as news of head injuries occurring as early as pre high school. 

I wont let my kid play football period. Furthermore, the football players sit there and sacrifice years of their life for a game where many players never financially benefit from it. You hear about the superstars but most players barely make any money. 

The fat cat owners collect tens of millions of profit per year while men are sacrificing their quality of life and such. 

The game needs to be optimized for personal safety. Plus, the game over emphasizes QB safety. You know why? Because once QB gets injured, viewership goes down and the NFL makes less money.

They dont hit harder in the past, players now are bigger, stronger, and faster. 

Overall, Delete, your point on the NFL clearly lacks knowledge, you are the quintessential low information person, who makes claims with little knowledge, we see it all your posts as well as your political support. All predicated on a person with low information who doesnt even realize they are low information.

 I remember when I bought my copy of World of Warcraft back in 2004 at Circuit City.  The big bruit behind the counter asked me if I can handle it….. I told him I've done Marital Arts for many years, still hesitant he sold me a copy. 

 

And yes, you had to physically go to a store and buy a disc, none of this new download crap that pansy's do now days.  The bigger reason was to size you up to see if you could handle it.  This is how tough you had to be in order to play mmorpgs in Northeast Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

 

Don't even get me started on Guilds back in the day…….All I'll say is no sleeping EVER, that’s all I'll say about that….. They might still be watching.

Football was better when it was rugby.  No pads, no gear, no face masks and played by Ivy League students not quite fit enough for the rowing crews.  Just a leather helmet, a jersey, and a willingness to die young.  Rugby was better when it was football, in the days before it became 'soccer' for Americans.

So enjoy it while it's still a thing because AMERICAN foorballs days are numbered.

American football and baseball are perfect games to watch when you're doing something else or at work. Absolutely perfect. I declined to get a hockey pass for my team because it is constant action and i only watch games usually at work or when i'm doing other things.

Yep, I always found it amusing, there's the entire world's football (literally a ball played by foot, even penalties if it touches a hand), and then there's the State with its rugby in body armour and radio control, etc.

Of course they can't call it rugby anymore due to the changes in the format, the notion of cameltosis ("rugby for wimps") doesn't sound heroic enough for the body armours, so they call it... football. For reasons. They don't use a ball, they play by the hand, carries and throws, so the most logical name they could pick was football.

And then they expect to everyone else outside the States call theirs soccer, since football is the body armour rugby, played by hand. Hilarious

American Football has certainly changed, much of it in the past 20 years. Rules have changed to help ensure safety for the players (mostly good) or to make scoring easier (casual fan appeal). It has been a long, long while since a player actually died while playing, which did occur in American football's infancy.

The first Super Bowl (1968 Green Bay vs Kansas City) did not even sell out. Now, tickets tp the game costs hundreds of dollars, if one can even buy them. Yes, the mainstream populous has caught "football fever" and now the changes are commonplace. Kinda like MMORPGs

I agree with @rojoArcueid that Madden NFL used to be a great game! I spent years of my life playing their franchise mode as I dreamed of being a head coach in the NFL

I very much enjoy American college football. But I can't say football as a sport has gotten better or worse over the years. My team, on the other hand, sadly is much worse.

I can see that some of you don't quite understand. 

Let me tell you a true story from my days of playing the wonderful sport of American Football. 

It was late in the game and the score was tied. My coach took a timeout and called me to the sidelines.
He said "you're coming out." 
I said "What?! No Fing Way!"
He told me my arm was hurt and he could tell, and that I was coming out.
I knew what he was talking about but I wasn't coming out no matter what.
I told him squarely, "That bone in my arm always sticks out of the flesh like that, and if you're queezy about it get some duct tape!"
He says to me, "Kid, your mom is in the stands and you're coming out."
"Now drop and give me 50."
