Survival games are a great way to have MMO like features in a world you can actually have influence on. Can you imagine an MMO where you actually influenced the world like a survival game or like BOTW? Sure it sounds good until you realize YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE INFLUENCING THE WORLD.
So yes, survival games are great for their unique experiences.
It's not a survival game. It's an EVE Sov game in the sense that a couple times a week everyone logs in for a scheduled PvP timer, then during the rest of the week grind up however they want.

That's an unusual cheap price for what is supposed to be a triple A game isn't it? Would this be the pre-order price only and their way to get pre-orders? Nevermind, the game might not be a full blown MMORPG
I played through almost every phase of the alpha and it’s crazy how much misinformation is out there. Maybe some people saw a hunger/thirst system and quit.
This is definitely a sandbox mmorpg and I am very excited to see what’s changed since the servers went down.
Problem lied for us impossible to claim an area for our own because they had a limited number of pre-set claims on the map so most if they didn't join those guilds were left wandering around without a proper goal

Price is determined by what a company wants to achieve. What it costs to make is usually a tiny element of the decision.
- If you are a new entrant and want to break into a market - "lower"
- If you want to promote a different product that you own - "lower". (So Twitter for Amazon but think Apple+ been given away with new hardware purchases.)
- If you have a C-level board with $100M+ salaries you have to charge - "higher".
- If you believe that people will think your game won't be AAA if you don't charge more - higher.
If you believe you believe your only sales will be to a dedicated fanbase - probably higher. If you believe you can market something worldwide and achieve huge sales - probably lower. (In this respect a listing on Steam is interesting.)
I've had alpha access for a while now and.. it just wasn't very different from any other ARK or Conan Exiles-like games. Just yet another sandbox survival game in a market that most likely doesn't care about them anymore.
Maybe something changed in the last year, but as of my last experience, it's not something I'd recommend to anyone unless it was F2P.

But of course, if you want to play Black Desert for a long time, don't count on that $10 being the only thing you ever pay. And so it likely would be for Amazon's New World.

Hopefully you get the idea.
It depends on the market. Computer software is unusual in that the per-unit costs of producing it are trivial. If you think that cutting your price in half will triple your sales, in most markets, that would mean losing money on every unit you sell. For computer software, that would be a clear win, as it's 50% more revenue with the cost of production barely changed.

By the time it launches, there won't be any Windows 7 support from Microsoft, either.
Yeah, still trying to figure out what to do about that for my gaming laptop.
Microsoft's recommended solution is to not upgrade to WIN10, rather just go buy a new one, which while it's time the old one still has lots of life yet.
I'll call the vendor, might have to upgrade to Win8 as the laptop was originally optimised to run on it if Win 10 isn't an option.

At launch BDOs base price was $29.99 as I recall, with early access preorder packages being somewhat higher.
They dropped the price to $10 shortly after launch as their designs around poor in game character costumes and loot gathering strongly incentived players to spend significantly in the cash shop early on.
They practically redefined the way cash shops worked and was one of the more brilliant (in an evil genius sort of way) aspects of their design, the game itself, not so much.

I honestly dont know why people ever thought it would be a mmorpg. They said day one that all the games they were creating would be with a twitch focus. This was always going to be a game where they'll more than likely have controlled events at particular times to draw in views for streamers.
