And it's pretty "cool" (pun intended) as it's a massive ice planet.
It's called Microtech and every corner of it is explorable.
Which makes for some nice vistas from above...
And from the ground...
It's not just snow all over, the poles are warmer:
There's weather too, rain, fog...even blizzards.
There's a futuristic looking city as well, New Babage. Which looks pretty dope too.
Reminds me of Hoth planet from SW

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.
https://starcitizen.tools/Star_Citizen_Alpha_3.8.0 much better break down of missions and the patch.
We were actually playing on PTU, pretty much on ground rovers in the middle of a snowstorm at night! It's damn pitch black on its own, even with the vehicle lights the storm didn't help lol
@Asm0deus the VFX does not appear to clip on some vehicles, but there is also snow like ground vehicle clips through bushes and so that'll need to be hidden
This tech, v4, is what has been the focus before investing much on content within planets because the tech had to reach a quality level on the planet generation so the planets will not have to be generated again, otherwise, they would have much work to implement a new version because all the content placed in would need to get sorted again.
SSOCS also releasing with this update that is a major backend optimization on the server-side finally allows the addiction of far more AI and other stuff without degrading server performance, so surfaces will get more content.
The gameplay is not much different from space as the game mechanics are the same, be that an FPS AI mission or even Mining, it's just adapted to the realism of both enviornments.

Get back to me when this multi million dollar game is doing something i haven't already seen before.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
If you want a new idea, go read an old book.
In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.
... or is it just that the planet is tilted 90 degrees along its rotational axis? Somebody needs to Space Engine this.
What does the analemma of Microtech look like?

Its the great 'wait and see' experience.
No tot mention how many planets did they promise way back when? They have less than 10 I think after how long and now much money? And theyre all empty with nothing to do but whatever someone can dream up and try and call 'content'.
Seriously this is getting beyond ridiculous. I guess the positive is they are actually doing something but it surely isnt the end all be all. Sort of like caves. Remember when those were the best thing ever created in the video gaming world? Dont hear much about them now. Are they released? If so then I suspect they are just as boring and empty and devoid of anything resembling 'content' as we all said they would be. But because they were something different they were the end all be all for about 5 seconds.
Which sort of sums this whole project up. While it is being 'developed' they can make grand announcements like this every time they put ANYTHING in. Once it is actually 'released' then expectations become greater. Well for most they are greater but the spin doctors wouldnt have nearly the semantics arguments to spew if this thing ever does release.
They have spent over 200 million (and probably closer to the 225 range) on what people can see with their own eyes. Can anyone honestly say what there is that is playable is worth that kind of a price tag? And that isnt even considering the hyperbole of him claiming every dollar he raised would be worth 3 or 4 'real' dollars in terms of development. 200-225 MILLION spent of actual dollars.
Same, I can't do this for the hell of me, just crash trying to go in-between things xD
The original scope was a set of a few dozen landing zones, not fully explorable planets or moons, they were landing zone map levels, known as the social module.
So the current standard this stuff is being built is quite beyond what was originally set to be, the higher depth and quality of the locations developed today are the priority, instead of rushing adding locations just to meet a set number.
