I have seen people get lower. There is a list on the official website telling what your score means:
2500 to 2999: "Tough" PC We assume that your computer can run FINAL FANTASY XI for Windows enjoyably with the default settings. If your video card exceeds the recommended system requirements, we recommend that you increase the resolution of FINAL FANTASY XI for Windows. FINAL FANTASY XI might run just as smoothly as in low resolution mode.
I would not recommend playing the game on high resolution:
1500 to 1999: "Decent Challenge" PC We assume that your computer can easily run FINAL FANTASY XI for Windows with the default settings. If the frame rate bothers you when you run FINAL FANTASY XI for Windows, you may change the game settings (resolution or texture settings, etc) or adjust the display of weather effects.

I got a 3900 on high resolution and a 3100 on low, so i guess that i should be fine for this game? I want to be able to play the game on high resolution without any lag (i'm wondering if more ram would help, since alot of information is passing through the ram when you enter towns/places with lots of characters)
I'm running:
Athlon xp 2600
Radeon 9600 PRO
512 megs ddr 400 ram (pc 3200)
and a 7200 rpm 160 gig western digital harddrive (not a super fast fsb since it was a gift from mother when i started college.............still don't know what college is, can't find the right npc for that quest)
I get worried because when i played SWG (all for a week or so...GOD SUCH BUYERS REMORSE) the game ddin't run that great, and i was under the impression that i have a decent computer (neverwinter nights is beautiful on this machine) Anyone else play swg with a sweet machine and noticed the game is kinda like ultima 9? (as in your computer is way way way better than the recommended specs yet it still runs like crap)
what kind of main board are you using to operate 3200 ram? im on a msi board thats 333 FSB and running on 2700 ddr, am i mistaken and mine is capable of running 3200?
oops forgot to list the motherboard i'm using it's the ASUS a7v600 and it supports up to 3 sticks of ddr ram (only 3 dimm slots) and i say it supports 3 because some of the lower models only support 2 strips of ddr even if there are 3dimm slots (i had one of those and returned it)
what i'm wondering is how you got a better score than me but i have the faster computer...must be something i'm doing wrong, i have faster ram/processor and we have the same video card (if you have the normal and not the pro i'm going to feel really bad hehe)
I checked around and realized I didn't have 8x agp enabled. I went ahead and enabled that, which required me installing the new via drivers, and my benchmark score went from 3100 oh high to 3700; which to me is a signifigant improvment. (and it was a noticable improvement while the benchmark was running)
At first when I ran everything in Windows XP with direct X my system froze or crashed to desktop. I was searching the web and found the solution after about 7 months of searching (it was so obvious I don't know why I didn't find it sooner!). There was a bad memory address in the VIA chipset on my motherboard. Basically this address was in charge of memory timing. In Windows ME this wasn't a problem but in XP it was and the patch I downloaded fixed it, yay!

your chip is the 2600+, a weaker chip than my 2500+ since mine is running on the barton core. should do a little research before you buy, the 2600+ has the same retail price as the 2500+ but the 2500+ has WAY better overall performance.
Also, from reading the reviews i have read and being a hardware guru i have to say that im unsure your system configuration is all that stable. The 2500+ and the 27/2800+ were the first processors (and the only ones) from my understanding that could even support a 333 mhz FSB motherboard, of this im almost entirely sure of, since the launch of the 2400/2600+ came when the Athlons were still on a 2100 ddr standard (they were released when intel was pushing its 2.4 out, which was on 2100 ddr) the good side for you is that the 2600+ has a thoroughbred core, which means you can easily overclock it provided you have a safe enough cooling fan. you should be able to find instructions for that from a random search.
quote taken from Anadtech.com rating amd processors:
As we just mentioned, the two new processors being announced today are the Athlon XP 2700+ and 2800+. The 2700+ runs at 2.17GHz while the 2800+ runs at 2.25GHz, both using a 166MHz DDR FSB (effectively 333MHz). The 25% increase in FSB frequency will apply to all CPUs after the 2700/2800+, meaning that although the 2600+ won't get a 333MHz FSB, the 3000+ will. Both of these CPUs are based off of the new Thoroughbred-B core.
so maybe see if your ram is actually 100% compliant with your motherboard and processor, a simple hardware problem like this could throw off your overall system performance. Also, the only AMD chip that will actually take full advantage of that 3200 ddr ram is the 3200+. your current setup will use it, but wont take full advantage of the speed.
