I'm an absolute nobody with amateur mod/dev skills, and I can still pretty much guarantee if someone gave me 900k, I could come up with more in a year by myself than Caspian's entire "team" has managed thus far.

I think it was an extra 2-3 million but either way it’s proven woefully short. I don’t think it was a scam either. Where I do question motivations are things like not having the time to change the release date on their website for years. Also things like what I feel is a lack of candor related to current development progress.

Hey I've been out of the loop can you update me with some info? We know last week on Wednesday they made a nice formal post that there will be no shiny the following day because of the snow. Fast forward to this week and I don't believe I saw a shiny...nor a reason for its absence. Oddly enough, if you check their discord Serpentius posted yesterday that people should stop fabrication information...when some one called him out on it and ashed is there somewhere they can discuss this Serp answered nope.
Is Serpentius okay or is he going through something? Hopefully the studios is doing okay.
Lets recap 2020, so far, with one week left in January...no state of elyria which was promised to be in December...Settlers of Elyria has been down for almost 5 weeks now, zero indication wtf is wrong or when it will be back up. They admitted to releasing a shiny that was meant to be for internal purposes...literally stole/photoshopped it. The week before gave an excuse that for safety reasons no shiny because of the snow...this week they one step upped themselves by not even giving a damn.
Does anyone know what is going on with this studios? 4 years and 8M cash, every deadline missed and this is how they treat us? Can some one correct me if anything i said is wrong?

The worst part are when people make up and promote complete fabrications and pass them around as truths, IMHO.
Their next shiny might be them telling their audience they had an idea but decided not to share it because others have ideas too. It would be very unlikely they had an idea in the first place though, they need to have a clue first.

Not much of anything be going on. People have been asking most of the day about the shiny piece, on the forums as well. The only thing Serpentius bother to say was the following:

After almost 3 years of being at the studio, I can tell you what would happen.
1. I ask and get an answer, that isn't the answer you or someone else wants to hear. Then that answer gets bashed or other untruths are made up and propagated just because.
2. I ask and don't get an answer. Now the whole room starts making up things as to why I didn't get you an answer, and then those get propagated as the truth throughout the community.
Unfortunately, in these situations and knowing of the members here, it is a lose-lose scenario for us. When I hear more info about a shiny and I'm given permission to share whatever that info is, I will do so. Thanks and have a great evening.

Personally I don't overall mind the silence. If they at least just wrote something like. "In regard to how people are feeling about the company, we will be taking a step back and solo working on the game. When we next release a shiny, it will be something important". This just looks like Caspian has thrown his toys away and now everyone is going to suffer from it.
As for the comment of him shutting down the EU server channel. That server has always been toxic as all fuck. For years people would borderline bully people. I may not like Zultra/Maulvorn. But the amount of plain abuse/bullying/downvote armies that followed him around for years and SBS did fucking nothing to fix it. Well I have no idea why they care now. Not that I have any clue what is going on in that channel. But they set the standard years back that players can do and talk however they like to each other. The point I never got a warning after calling multi different people cunts, on the forums, is proof of that.
That response from Serpenius is hysterical. He is the Community Manager. He is the conduit between community and developers. He should have found out what happened as soon as it was late Thursday and told everyone. Not only didn’t he do that, but instead he tells the community a day later that he won’t even ask about it?

He wont ask about it because everyone knows what happened and they got got on it. I would not doubt if within the next two years you hear them shutting this thing completely down.
It was a scam from the start when they wanted to such a low amount to get a working example to pitch to publishers. There is not a publisher in the world that will touch the company and game now. They have completely miss managed all the money they have got and continue to get and have nothing to really show for all that money. Other then I bet they have new houses and new cars to use.
All these little videos of here is a pre-alpha with some store bought assets tossed into a example project that joe down the road could do in a weeks time with no know how.
The whole we are using all this fancy tech to make the game faster without any experience. Yeah that worked out great for them. I am amazed they can even get anything out of the unreal engine at the rate they are going / stuff they have shown. I bet the outsourced these little single player demos from some outside firm.

Not gonna lie, I don't care much about him or his employees. If you're able to be employed by this clown, then you can go and find a job as a developer somewhere else. I genuinely don't understand why people care about whether these guys, with CS degrees, will be able to find a job or not, seems like a sentiment you'd apply to people who are worse off.
Saying that, the backers must be sweating bullets due to these last 2-3 months. Completely circus that is ultimately just gonna end up as another piece of valuable literature for MMOs and Kickstarters.

So, wait. SBS has promised news/answers/updates/shinies/whatever to the community through Serpentius and hasn’t delivered any of that. They even kept silent.

Not that I have any clue what is going on in that channel. But they set the standard years back that players can do and talk however they like to each other. It was a scam from the start when they wanted to such a low amount to get a working example to pitch to publishers. There is not a publisher in the world that will touch the company and game now. They have completely miss managed all the money they have got and continue to get and have nothing to really show for all that money. Other then I bet they have new houses and new cars to use.
All these little videos of here is a pre-alpha with some store bought assets tossed into a example project that joe down the road could do in a weeks time with no know how.
The whole we are using all this fancy tech to make the game faster without any experience. Yeah that worked out great for them. I am amazed they can even get anything out of the unreal engine at the rate they are going / stuff they have shown. I bet the outsourced these little single player demos from some outside firm.

BTW, Serpentius was mocking the community yesterday on discord. He was lurking in the common room and any negative or questionable question/comment he was putting "violin" and "FakeNews" emojis on them. Instead of doing his f'n job he felt it be a good ideas to trigger people.

Can we pretty much all agree the snow day excuse is bullcrap now? If that had any true to being the reason for the day how the heck did he not post something this week? Saying that, the backers must be sweating bullets due to these last 2-3 months. Completely circus that is ultimately just gonna end up as another piece of valuable literature for MMOs and Kickstarters.

It be one thing if Serpentius was just trolling a random nobody, the point Anatol is a 10ker, thus a higher backer. Biting the hand that feeds them and all. Serp is very much above any rules, if people put in a support ticket about him, it goes to him.
Also surprising people still stand up for SBS when they are this unprofessional. If he is sick of it, whatever. Don't start trolling backers. Over such a simple issue as well.
Then the community wonders what is going on and speculates, not even that negatively when looking at your quotes, and in response the same community manager that failed to deliver in the first place, the actual reason for the speculation in the first place, turns it around and blames it on the community?
