Interestingly the site I shared had a link to a live stream of SOL from fall of 2015, (apparently the first time backers could join in to help stress test the game) and these three folks seem to believe the release date was going to be in 2017.
Thought I'd share so we can compare the differences 5 years later. Wonder if the graphics will go backwards in April or be about the same?
What's more interesting is the streamers comments about the direction the MMO genre was heading, correctly predicting the AAA devs backing out but not quite correctly forecasting indie MMO success.
Yep, this game was initially advertise to release in 2017!!!!! Notice how he leaves the thread too when he is called on his BS.
I wish people would wake up to the fact that this game is nothing more than vaporware. Sure, they have a playable "demo" (if you can call it that), but overall they have made very little progress in the last 3 years.
I'm sick and tired of these so called indie developers peddling their crap, trying to take advantage of MMO gamer's nostalgia that are desperate for a new a MMO.
I love how he handles critics too, basically anyone calling him on his BS or raises legit concerns with the game is labeled a troll.
You can really see the lack of experience just spewing from this guy with his responses.
I mean these are probably not the exact assets here, but dang they look pretty much the same.
This entire game so far is basically Unity store assets. After 5 years of development, you would think they would have an actual artist on staff creating unique assets for the game?
Reasonable questions. I’m trying to give him a chance to respond on the prior missed release date and subsequent 2 year delay. Probably best to do it here before someone makes a thread asking the same thing...
Where are either of you getting the idea this game missed its release date two years ago, I don't recall Tim ever providing a target date until recently.
You aren't both confusing this this COE are you, because if so that's a bit embarrassing.
Um, this was their initial release date that they plastered all over the internet. Their Alpha was supposedly to start years ago.
I'm telling you guys, this game will never release. They don't have the experience or the funding for a project of this scope.
Turns out you might be correct, back in 2015 during the start of their preorders they were projecting an end of 2017 launch date apparantly.
Found this old post, but is not official nor is Tim seen confirming there. Perhaps it's the source of this date, because I do not recall Tim ever giving such here and I've been telling him he's going to fail going all the way back to then.
"Saga of Lucimia is a group based MMO inspired by games of old (Everquest, Vanguard, PnP D&D - technically Ultima but only in so much as being skill based instead of levels). It goes into Alpha in October (proper Alpha for testing purposes as opposed to a full game to play). The game is due to release end 2017."
Bruh check the link in my thread with the bold questions. This forum, his words.
Everyone on board is doing this for the passion, not for the money. Any paychecks we'll take will likely happen once we launch in December of 2017, and see how well our game does then.
Wow, straight from the horses mouth LMAO!!! I told you guys this guy was a shyster.
On the SOLE premise that Tim felt the article was attacking him, then sure fine i accept the retraction as MATURE and legit. However if this was to merely retract because the developer says so that is even yet WORSE editorial standards,in other words very poor judgement and ethics.
However, yeah we are all human,if someone feels attacked, then sure the other party can say i am sorry, there is nothing wrong with that. However i have seen this side of the fence in the past and it has NEVER in all the years i have been reading here,EVER gone the other way.In the past "fanbois"scoffed at a negative review so this site changed their opinion like 2 days later and gave the game a positive review. To me that is bullshit, your opinion should stick, you say something you mean it.If one feels a poor use of words ,again fine, maybe what they said came off wrong but like i said, this has NEVER gone the other way going from positive to negative, makes you wonder.
Yeah this "situation" is bothering me more than anything else.

What was subsequently published was NOT an article about workplace issues at game companies. Instead, the writer used workplace issues and out-of-context quotes from me to spin a false narrative about myself, and my company. This isn't opinion; this is defamation.
A) Legal?
Renfail
And based on this piece being allowed to be published, I probably won't be coming back anytime soon
B Revenue?/Participation?

Based on their email to me, that's what I thought I was participating in.
I appreciate the support. And yes, I would absolutely accept a formal apology (public) and a retraction of the piece as it currently stands.
I reached out for clarification last night, but so far it's been radio silence from their team (it's still early, so we'll seee).

I've also reached out to Tim personally and apologized, and I appreciate his candor and his insight throughout this discussion as well. We look forward to speaking with him and the team at Stormhaven moving forward.
As far as how we will be preventing this in the future, we've implemented more editorial oversight internally here at MMORPG, but ultimately it falls on me as Managing Editor to ensure that we do not allow this type of issue to occur in the future
Again, MMORPG instead of leaving this cloud of doubt this should've been done in the first place.
MMORPG if I was a supervisor evaluating you for integrity this would be a "needs improvement".
Also as a side note to the above in my trade there's a saying we go by.
The customer should never see these kind of processes go on.
Or I think it goes, "The customer doesn't wanna see this" or some such. What the hell do I know?
We are included as your customers even if you might not think so.
I have possible dumb question forgive me: How the hell does he have so much time to post when making a game?
What does God need with a starship? (Star Trek: The Final Frontier)

It is spelt "Q" and you see the heads of games in development on Discord and tweeting all time, that's part of being the public face of any organisation. Compared to spending hours on Discord several posts are hardly time consuming.

But I’ve seen every episode 4 times!
For me only twice actually and Discovery only once, I find I remember too much of any TV series a third time. I don't think Kirk ever met Q, but god like figures were hardly in short supply in Kirk's day, such stories are a staple of SF in fact.
Not an alt account, I just don't post here. In fact my user name is the name of my first WoW toon, who is probably still hanging out somewhere since I dumped her after BFA part1. You just come across with an demanding attitude, have an answer for everything and when you get an answer, it isn't good enough because it doesn't meet your expectation of answer. It's like trying to reason with a pigeon. It's pointless and frustrating.
Kind of shocked by the vitriol in some of these posts.
I'm not, this is the internet. Looking at all the people hoarding toilet paper. If you had IBS with diarrhea and ate taco bell for every single meal for 3 months, you would still have extra tp.

Okay thanks for clearing that up. I was just confused by all the work he said he was doing already.

Sitting in a climate-controlled space working 12 - 16 hour days on my dream project is paradise compared to those days, and there's not a day that goes by where I don't cherish the possibility to pursue my dream, or the hard work that it took to get here.

I actually *still* work a part-time job to pay the bills for my wife and I (though I lived on a personal loan for 2018 and 2019), which I've mentioned in many other places.
So ON TOP of working 80+ hour work weeks on the Saga of Lucimia, I also work a good 20-ish hours a week on that other project

On top of being the CEO of the game studio and creative director/director of marketing for the game, I'm the author of the book series, the lead writer of the tabletop game as well as the lead designer and editor, the lead writer/editor on the game, the only VFX person on the team (a recent position I took on at the end of 2019), I handle all the legal side of things, I'm the lead project manager, a website developer, forum moderator, Discord moderator, videographer, social media manager, content creator, publicist, community manager, QA tester, and probably another 15-20 roles that I'm forgetting in the moment.
Reasonable talk? Good time to ask what caused the 2+ year delay of this game?
Oh and what happened to the 18 member staff?
“Meanwhile, we're vetting team member 18 right now, and moving onwards and upwards. Everyone on board is doing this for the passion, not for the money. Any paychecks we'll take will likely happen once we launch in December of 2017, and see how well our game does then.” - Renfail
Wanted to say thanks for all the bumps this weekend while I was out working and doing RL stuff! Had to do Costco + supermarket prep with the wife ahead of our social distancing to do our part with COVID-19, plus prep a bunch of contracts for our stream team for our nonexistent game!
Don't forget we'll be live at 8 p.m. Central on March 18th at https://www.twitch.tv/sagaoflucimia to showcase more of our fake game filled with storebought assets to celebrate the re-opening of our pre-order store at noon on the 18th, where we'll be fleecing more innocents out of their hard-earned money so we can keep living the high life in our mansions and driving our Teslas!
Sometimes just one “I was wrong” is better than 20 explanations.
You'd almost think Mr. Anderson thinks people here are too dumb to be able to go back and find HIS OWN WORDS in posts contradicting what he's saying now.
It appears that the big meanie correctly assessed the situation

Notice how Tim just left the thread too, when he was presented with tough questions.
He just labeled them "trolls" and left. If this doesn't raise red flags then I don't want to say.
I'm glad you enjoy watching people get fleeced.
Because I know if I don't address points 1-837# without empirical evidence I am in fact a bamboolzer.
