Free Steam Games

Below is a list of completely free Steam games. They cover a variety of genres, so hopefully you can find one suited to your taste. Each comes along with a minimal description as well to help you determine if it may be of interest. A few games have advisories to keep in mind, as a few have some features that some may not enjoy. If I made an error and any game in this list is not completely free please let me know so I can remove it.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/563560/Alien_Swarm_Reactive_Drop/

Top down shooter, co-op and solo with bots.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/283880/Heroines_Quest_The_Herald_of_Ragnarok/

Similar to Quest for Glory series by Sierra.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/224260/No_More_Room_in_Hell/

First person shooter, horror, graphic violence so be advised.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1062070/TexMechs/

First person shooter, student project, short. https://store.steampowered.com/app/339120/Fork_Parkers_Holiday_Profit_Hike/

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1058640/RED_HOT_VENGEANCE/

Top down shooter, mimimalist, solo, graphic violence so be advised.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/521200/Epic_Battle_Fantasy_3/

Turn-based, jrpg, humour, minimal fan service so be advised.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1037410/Captain_Starshot/

Action, sci-fi, student project.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/863400/Feud/

Strategy, board game.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/605610/Dawn/

Platformer, 3d, student project.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/339120/Fork_Parkers_Holiday_Profit_Hike/

Platformer, 2d, pixel graphics, difficult.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/930310/Puzzle_Plunder/

Match 3, pirate theme, time pressure.

Exception:

While this is completely free to download and play, it does have some inexpensive cash shop purchases. It is more simulation than game, but was included as may help relieve the exceptional stress many feel at this time. A lengthy review shows has this was so for one person. Hopefully some here will find it helpful.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/375950/Viridi/

Stress relief, simulation.

I hope some of you find this useful.

    Thanks!
I've got a game for free at some point (it is still goes for free from time to time, so you may catch it)
    It's called "Jotun"
Very fun one with nice audio and nice art style
It's about the lady viking who wants to impress the Gods  :)

i have spent countless hours...days ..weeks on Steam looking through their portfolio,i end up finding a lot of junk.

75% of their curators are shills.

I don't think i have EVER enjoyed a free game, the only thing close is a special offer like when Epic store offers free games from time to time.
I honestly find  some of my older Nintendo games to be better than most free games of today.
Free would have to be totally playable for  free and that is not the case with most f2p games.
    I can't even think of one f2p game i would play,notta one.

Actually there is one game and so happens to be the highest skilled fps'r in existence. The newest Unreal tournament, while others like Blizzard and Counterstrike are charging money to play simple pew pew ,UT is community based, maps made by the community and like i said the skill level is very high.\

However i don't like to lump arena shooters into the same category as CONTENT driven games. So on that note, there aren't any good f2p content games.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Steam also hands out free games here more than Epic Games does, also free trials. I have gotten many free games here. Even top titles. They are all here at this link...

Its been a few years since I have replied to your posts or even read one. There are many awesome F2P games that are quality. If you have not found one, my guess is your not looking very hard. Sure there is F2P crap out there but no more then there is games you pay for. Steam has titles that are not promoted anywhere else. Games that are smash hits after they have gained popularity on Steam. They are a unique service that I am thankful is out there bring value and unique services to gamers.

Missing is Doki Doki Literature Club. Completely free and very much worth it if you don’t take it for face value, it is NOT what it seems. Warning, it gets quite graphic so definitely no kids around. Also, get the final end, you have to do some stuff outside of the game to get it  ;)

Would love to hear feedback from those going through it completely.

    /Cheers,

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'

    Hero Online Private Server

So folks, the day we all knew came. The latest promising Hero Online PServer folded due to DMCA rights, should have hosted it in Russia/Canada and this wouldn't have been an issue.

Although, I have the server files and I'm planing on taking it on upon myself to actually host and open one. I've been working bits n tits over the past few years on this on poor server files as none were to find. But alas! Now there is. I could use some help ofcourse so if there's anyone interessted and have experience, please send a reply
this doesn't seem like the right thread for this.  I'm not really sure where you'd go to find others though.

So much junk on steam... seems like 95% of the games on steam are shovelware

FTFY. It's true across the board on Epic, Itch, Stadia, Nintendo, PlayStation... There is a ton of shovelware in various forms. If you hate shovelware entertainment then avoid Netflix, Prime, and Hulu by all means. They make the gaming pool look positively pristine by comparison.
You do get crap games but they also do chuck some quality games at you for free. Its worth keeping an eye on whats out there for free. I use the sites below to check things out once a day and it takes less then a min.

It seems like turn based strategy games are really coming out of the woodwork lately...I haven't seen any in the free bin but alot are in alpha and want $20 or so to play.

It's cool of you to post, even if I'm not generally one to play the free/99cent Steam games like the ones listed, maybe someone will find something they like.

Honestly, my Steam backlog got so big from all those sales over the years, but now that console stores often meet or beat Steam Sale prices and Epic gives away so many games--plus I have Game Pass Ultimate--my Steam use is wayyy down over the last couple years.

I wouldn’t waste my time or hard drive space on this list. Lol.

Did you check any of them out, or simply dismiss all of them out of hand?

    Wow. Thanks for the list!

I'd appreciate that if you choose to quote my list that you not insert a link to popular casino games as though it were one of my suggestions.

It was not, and by the name alone it clearly doesn't belong.

I don’t know why, but I have never played free games on Steam, although I have been playing on this platform for a long time. I'm just not sure that such games will be very interesting and have good graphics.

lol welcoming the bots again? All three of the posts above your are bots/unauthentic accounts. They seem genuine now, but they are attempting establish their account post counts, then later will show up spamming links. I've gone back through the histories of several here and this is what some do.

If you are a real person not an adbot, you just need to do more posts to be allowed to do a thread.

I think some of them crawl the web and search up certain phrases like Free...Steam...Giveaway..keycodes ect which brings them to these threads. It's actually funny, yet not.

They are far more sophisticated than they were a few years ago, they would do a first post with a link, have bad grammar and do really short posts. That post above checks two of those criteria.

First time posters on here often do so for a mini rant, even if its one sentence, that's a 100% way to know its a real poster. :D
