The CCP gave us COVID-19, and now Tencent wants to give it to our PCs as well. No thanks.

CSGO also has this if you play in a real league. Calm down cuties. None of you bitter old boomers were going to play this anyway.

I was actually going to get this game until I heard about the anti cheat program running on bootup.  That is a definite no no for any game!

Implying that younger generations understand basic concepts like kernel level anti-cheats and know they aren't some chinese government sponsored spyware. The conspiracy theories are hilarious though.

Not sure how they would take your freedom and control you though. Are you downloading Vanguard directly into your brain or something? I didn't, it's just on my computer.

I am not at all one of those "no drm or anti-cheat crusaders," but this particular implementation is far too intrusive and questionable.

Weird. The service isn't even running until you launch the game. It's set to manual.
Why would he say it's running on system startup.
It does operate with system (admin) credentials, if that's the issue, why use such weird formulation.

I'm now considering this game. The type of nasty people who would use/buy cheats are the kind of people I don't want in my life so if this is a slap in their face I approve it 100%.

Do a little research...these anti cheat/theft/piracy programs matter exactly zero to the people that cheat and steal in games.

They are there to have fun their way and if and when they get caught...so what? They either pirate another copy and use a different fake e-mail and go and do it again and again over and over till they get tired of the game.

I would not be surprised to find out people in the companies that make these anti programs are passing along the info needed to crack them the day of release of most of these games that use these things.

Either way...people find it challenging to find ways around and through these programs and i do not see that the money spent on trying to fight these people through programs is ever going to be effective. Why?

Because for the most part, the ones cracking and making cheats do it for fun...

It is one of those catch 22 things for real...the game companies are wasting cash on these programs and they cause more issues with paying customers than they ever will with the people who will steal and cheat.

The people that eventually (if ever) come up with a real solution will be extremely rich,  i just do not think it will be a piece of code that is part of a game that everyone can have fun  tearing apart to try to crack it.

You saying you understand says nothing to me. You saying you understand while at the same time denying that companies use this as an excuse to data mine says a lot.

If you have a clue as to how software and computers work you should be able to deduce what it’s capable of. If you know what it’s capable of and know how much your data is worth you should know a company isn’t going to ignore it. If you know what it’s capable of and have any knowledge of who tencent is or what ccp is doing in China and is doing with the entire world you would not be arguing this.

You are young and naive. Or just naive. Either way it’s or clear you don’t fully understand what it is you are arguing.

problem is when people caught you lieing, you say you undertand how programs work, but your actions and affirmation says you don't know,

    on this tell me

should I belive on what you are telling me, or should I belive on how you are acting?

a little info with will help you in life, everyone lie, words can't be trusted, actions in the other hand tells you a lot more about said person, its hard to find people who they actions match they words.

You can see what is being sent and received to your own network. There are multiple industry standard programs for packet logging. If you don't "believe" that I'm not sure what to tell you.

    Utinni,

I am greatly interested in the tech of this. You claim to understand what is going on, mention this is traceable through packet logging...

So, naturally, my question is... can you provide some real examples to establish your point?

Please don't think I am targeting you, as people who claim there is a violation also need to provide evidence, but you personally have claimed a technical knowledge of such and so I am interested to see your points.

While it has been a while some things, I have a wide array of knowledge from everything from hacking/security practices, to networking protocols and design, to software development ranging from low level languages to high level ones. I would be greatly interested to see this evidence you claim shows these anti-cheat programs are not intrusive or do not have the ability to be detrimental to system or network security.

Again, this isn't an attack or dismissal, just an honest interest in the data you claim to have.
