I's a great game that I've been playing now and again for years.
The graphics have actually aged well but a remaster would be even better.

The rumours are true! Prepare for a Re-Reckoning, because Kingdoms of Amalur is coming back.
Remastered with stunning visuals and refined gameplay, it's soon time to experience an epic RPG journey and all its DLCs like never before.
Now all we need is a discount for those of us who already have it on PC

Its good news , i guess , and when THQ purchased the IP i was hoping for more than just a remaster ..
IMO it really does not need a reamaster , it needs more content ..Lets hope they get permission to expand on the IP
KoA had an insane amount of content. If you did every quest it would take over 300 hours, and then there's all of the other things you can do like unlocking zone buffs, harvesting, crafting, etc.
I'm not going to spit on more content, but I'd rather have KoA2. Remastering a game that still looks perfectly fine seems like a waste, and just an excuse to charge full price for an old game.
Great news! If we have the original already does that mean we need to buy it again?
Well, probably.
IMO for its not worth that price tag for a remaster ..
Ive had it for years played thru it several times , and will not pay that for prettier graphics , previous owners should get the remaster for free
THQ is a business and they make money. What is the incentive to remaster the game if they aren't going to make money?
They are doing it to make money. They would be idiots to release a remaster of a game for free since they have to expend resources to remaster it.
Now whether or not it's a "brilliant" remaster or a half-ass job is another thing entirely.
I "could" see them releasing a remaster for free if they were the original developer. But they bought the IP so that they can develop it further. I wouldn't be surprised if they were working on a sequel or another DLC. That could also be a reason to release it for free.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

LOL i know exactly who they are i have stock in THQI , and i voiced my opinion in meetings also , should be free to previous owners , It would sell enough new copies ..To turn a profit ..
The goal here should be to good PR to exisiting owners (At least discount to 9.99 ) Its not worth that price tag (40.00)for what it is .. ( that will be reaction)
Get the IP out there in the publics eye , while working on expanding ( need permission from EA)
The ip was purchased for very little , I have more than a little experience here with this ...
And as a side note, many Remasters are 100% free and many more at previous owner discount ..

Ive played thru KoA 4 times , you have to skip nearly all side quests or you out level the content that matters..
Its a great game that really does not need more sparklie for success but more content and exposure will insure its future , an overpriced Remaster will not , to all of the people that own it , they will be dissapointed imo ..

Great, and what was their thought about why they weren't releasing it for free? That you can divulge of course.
I agree, releasing it for free for those who own it would get the IP out there. But how do they know whose purchased it? Do they have records of everyone who purchased it from other companies?
Or should people just say "I bought it now give it to me for free!"
edit: it seems Blue and Skeaser have valid insight.

All ill say is , it will be be hit with not worth 40$ , and its not .. This could end up bad PR ...
And they can easily start with gaming platforms like Steam , where we know exactly who bought it ..
No need to be silly with Oh Oh oH i bought it .. now is there ..

It shouldn't be hard to figure out. You either have it on Steam or Origin which track who owns what.
It's not something I'm interested in, since I think the original still looks quite good, but for those who are they could offer it for a discount on Steam/Origin. Several other games have done this, not only for remasters but sequels. If you owned Galactic Civilizations II you could get a discount on III on Steam.
Edit - oh right, I forgot about console peasants. Screw them. They should pay full price for being filthy primitives.
I bought it on 360 but never started it until last year. The console versions will REALLY benefit from the remaster...that resolution does not provide a great experience blown up on a 65' 4k screen. I got maybe 20% in before putting it down, but it'll have to be a good remaster and probably drop in price a bit before I pay a 2nd time.

that's not a bad point, Though I seem to remember It was on Origin as well. I don't know how those companies divulge that info but why not, I guess there wouldn't be a reason NOT to divulge.
You are so surprising. You buy stock in a video company and you don't realize that they want to make money so they can make you money.

I am so happy to hear this, had it on the ps3 and was thinking of buying it on steam recently- now I'll wait for the remaster!
And btw, I think those asking for a discount are being extremely petty. If they sell it for $40 dollars (basically half price of a new release) that's a steal.

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'
