Irth Online continues to incorporate art from the cancelled MMORPG "Wish" as they kick off beta three. Here is the official word:
IRTH ONLINE ANNOUNCES THIRD BETA TEST STARTS AUGUST 13TH -- More Wish Assets Included -- |
DEDHAM, MA AUGUST 12, 2005 The third Beta test for Magic Hat Softwares MMORPG Irth Online will begin on August 13, 2005, and run through September 9, 2005. Gamers are encouraged to apply for Beta 3 on the Irth Online website.
Our enthusiastic testers have continued to provide us with lots of new ideas and suggestions, and we are really appreciative of their efforts, says Alan Chipura, Lead Game Designer. The 38,000-square-kilometer world of Irth is filling up with new monsters, spells, and exciting adventures. We expect this ramp up to continue at the same ferocious pace as we go through Beta 3.
One of the highlighted additions in Beta 3 is the incorporation of graphic assets purchased from recently-cancelled MMORPG Wish, including the introduction of an underground Dwarf City. The Irth Online development team anticipates that former Wish players will enjoy seeing some of their favorite characters, avatars, and action sequences come back to life in Irth Online. The inclusion of previously acquired Wish assets into earlier Irth Betas has been well received by gamers, especially by players who have converted their support from Wish to Irth Online.
Player housing and player looting have also been added to Beta 3. Every account can claim a house, and can furnish it by bartering for or purchasing items, or crafting them. Players who kill an enemy can now claim their victims uninsured possessions.
This is expected to be the final Beta for Irth Online before its planned release in September. Beta testers are welcomed to apply at www.irthonline.com, the official Irth Online site, where visitors can keep up to date on the latest developments and other game news.

"Our enthusiastic testers" says Alan Chipura... Well, Alan Chippy, that's funny. Based on how the testers have responded on this site, they seem to have enthusiasm for this game as they do for athlete's foot. Get a clue Chippy. The only enthusiasm the testers have shown for this game is their enthusiasm to post warnings for others to stay away from it. Hopefully, you'll do 10 more Betas. You're going to need it Chippy.
This beta stage is expected to be final one? I hope it won't be, otherwise this game will be a big let-down for the people who have some expectations from it. The game still needs beta stages as the game has still undergone major content changes, major graphical improvements(We can see it from the news of purchasing Wish's graphical assets). If the game will be released in September and you will still implement major updates, fixes and changes, that will be really hilarious. You chose to advance the game with your community, that's good and respectful, but you need to be honest towards them. I don't understand why you're in such a rush.
As for Wish's graphics..I will be delighted to see them come back to life in Irth, however not the way I saw in Beta II. In a screenshot, Orges look as same as Wish's orges do, yet character still lacked in art and looked like pale statues. They obviously don't seem to belong to same world, so the screenshot looked like a art comparison between Irth and Wish in same screen. You should merge the graphical materials in the way which convinces the people they're in same world and shaped up within same hands. On the other hand, We need to see the screenshots of Beta III stage so as to give better feedback.
I really wonder how this game will be at the end now. I found these announcements a bit worrying. To be honest if you carry on rushing like that, an unfinished product will be released and you will prove the people's claims which told this game would be so.

Rossalis, if you don't mind me asking...you seem very very overenthuastic in your whim on bashing irth in every chance you got?
Did they steal your job, take your wife and kill your kitten or something?
I think I can tell you as much as that current testers are not worried of lack of content as there is plenty of that...it's the optimisation of things as you may have seen from less vocal people on these forums.
I'm currently trying to get bunch of things through that will help to assure people that the graphics are not as bad as some in these forums would like you to think. Check out www.irth-tavern.com, there'll be lots of things beta3 things as soon as possible.

I have same questions for the people who spammed GuildWars forums with repeated nonsense posts. They keep doing it even though their posts which lacked in knowledge were corrected. It makes me think this website is consist of fanboys, I may stop posting in here if the moderators go on standing by this annoying situation. Because I feel like I'm wasting my time here by trying to be objective and posting long critisms.

Rossalis, don't you think you've crossed the line? What's the association between loving game and sexual satisfaction? Get over yourself and be nice, hopefully you will be banned from this website and we will get rid of another vulgar troll.
MoDs, PLEASE BAN THIS TROLL, this is enough
...
I'm just not happy with how they are doing things. I do wish them the best of luck, but I'm not at all Impressed with how chopped up Wish got in their hands, oh well.

Ivan hi lol what exactly got under your skin about this game? I am beta-ing it and none of your venom is deserved at all. Maybe you had a bad day or something bro hehe I have always like your posts. Criticizing a game in beta is kinda silly, if you really do care as I hope you do, sign up for the beta and post your criticisms there. They devs of this game are ver involved and open minded.
Dude if anything this site consists of trolls, not Irth fanboys. Really, what posts are you reading? Every Irth thread becomes a troll fest, I think you and I might be reading from different MMORPG.coms.
EDIT: I might have taken you post the wrong way bro lol If I did I apologize
Well I talked generally, I didn't say this website had Irth fanboys. It was a general statement. I agree, critizing the gane in beta is rather silly, I can't call my posts as critisms anyway, they could be called as feedbacks rather than critisms. By saying "I feel like I'm wasting my time in here by posting long critisms" I referred to my all posts here, not only for the ones about IRth Online. I think I was misunderstood a bit in my that post. It was totally general statement.
I already signed up for beta and got key, however I couldn't run it properly. I don't want to turn an enjoyable activity - beta testing- into a torment, it may cause different incorrect impressions about the game. I know the people can run it with 60 even 131 FPS while I'm spending my time on the settings so as to go up 5 FPS. That's fine and good. I had to end my beta experience for Irth Online. I'll try to track the news both from here and other fan sites posted in general forum section and also from their official website.
What worries me about this last announcement is that they seem to be in an unnecessary rush and I pointed out it, that's all. My day has been good fortunately, nothing's wrong with that.
May the peace be with you

What is your system like Ivan? I had extreme problems even with my system which I consider to be "good". I have 1 gig stick of ddr 333 ram, radeon x800 pro and a humble 2.0 ghz amd processor. Once I got the settings right it runs flawlessly.
Put your specs here and I'll pm you with the settings help, it's really worth it.
EDIT: horrible spelling
Thank you, but we did it before, it was better but still torment. I think you can't recall just now, we did it before. THank you anyway

To tell the truth... I have very few issues that are against Irth. I like the open concept of the game, and even the fact that they took the WISH art (now if they only got a staff member that could do some half decent textures).
I tried the game for a while, but had one problem, the lag. Now most people go "why is there all this lag with such crappy graphics?" but to tell you the truth, poly wise, the graphics are beautiful. Their models have such great shape to them, the real problem most people see are the textures. Irth has some of the worst texture artists I have ever seen. If they would lower the polys, and increase the texture detail, the game would still run around the same speed but with 100% better graphic quality. Their armor models, and even just building textures need a major revamp, but other than that the game is really amazing.
I hope they find a better way to merge the Irth and WISH graphics together, but this would take a major overhaul of one of the two texture sets, and lets just say the WISH texture set is fine the way it is...
there has been major overhaul of textures in past few weeks...i remember one of their public newspapers even telling about it.
Now that is odd. From the way the Irthlovers have defended their beloved, I was sure the game had several more months of testing before release. Hmmm.
Boris
So were we...but we'll see how it goes.
So were we...but we'll see how it goes.
Makes you wonder what the devs keep telling you, doesn't it?
Hmm, Don't know where you get the idea my mother would do anything like that with reindeers...
Nice ban evading attempt by the way
There are certain names needed to be suspended from these forums, yet they're still talking, harrassing people, swearing at their mothers etc. It's amazing to see this situation in every single topic related to Irth Online

Yes, there are like 3 very disgruntled irth haters here...it's weird how some people can have so deep and personal feelings against a such a simple thing as a game.
mmorpg.com should hire more than 3 mods...90% of time you can do and say what ever you want in these forums and get away with it.

Yes, yes ...by all means lets just toss out free speech. Censorship in the 21st century is all the rage. I think collectively everyone could behave better...whether you are pro or con for this game or any other for that matter. Get a grip people, if you have a problem with someone ignore them or report them if your ego is that fragile. I think we all probably take this site for granted and when even the smallest little thing upsets us we expect the admins to do our bidding. All of you, you need professional help.
