I thought they did a classic server already ?

The classic server is about "content" but not about the old systems.

I'm not entirely sure that the old systems still exist.  We've seen big time game companies that don't appear to have solid IT practices.  There may not be a backup of the first (several) major revamps of the character systems still around to recover the original systems.  It's possible that some of the code simply isn't compatible with newer CPUs, depending on the age and how the code was originally compiled, it may include instructions that simply don't exist in the machines anymore.

Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

I'd rather have a completely new game than just a rehashing of the past.

This game is getting more and more like an retirement village. Too many old F*8ts and desperate lonely house wife in this game is the MAIN problem!
Obviously you don't play the game.  Try trolling in another thread where you actually know what you are talking about.

As to a classic server,  for one resources,  tsecondly people would not want to play it.  It was much harder to play at launch and you would miss much of the good content.

The biggest streamers certainly fit the bill quite often.  I mean, of course the game is mainly attracting people that have played it for years and appreciate slower combat with no epeen.
