Skills such as climbing, climate, perception are because this team lacks the skills on adding real animation to do anything else. Half the time the characters and creatures legs don't even move, they slide on ice as their moving. The biggest animation they can come up with is a fizzle and glow balls when something has a spell cast on them.
I could imagine the conversation between Brad and Jappa. It went something like this :
Brad- Lets make a game.
Jappa- I haven't touched a computer in 20 years.
Brad- That's ok will figure it out.
This is why the main features are climbing, climate, perception (easy to type in script). This is why it's taking so long, their relearning....... Nailed it

As I have said in your other posts. Pre-Alpha is a stage they chuck all their ideas at a wall to see what sticks. When the core game is built, they will go to Alpha to see what players thinks is fun. If the Alpha community says that climbing sucks, it will get reworked or cut. VR has stopped taking feedback from people who are not testers just for that reason. Delete and anyone else who has not played the game, have no idea if any of their systems are fun.

It is good to see people still talking about mmorpg's,maybe one day we will see the genre rise to the top.I am however a realist i don't rely on dreams i rely more on facts.
It is just way too costly to make a AAA mmorpg.A super budget,a 150 man operation including outsourcing might still take 5-7 years.So how long would it take an indie team 15-20 years?So simple math says NO INDIE team will ever make a AAA mmorpg.
However there is a way said the blind man.You still need a decent budget and decent manpower and still about 2-3 years worth of work.However just imagine being able to make a AAA mmorpg that is better than anything yet in only 2-3 years.
How is this done......to prove a point,i'll let perhaps some people guess or figure it out.it involves sharing the workload,losing some of your profit margin.IMO none of the negative will matter because an amazing AAA mmorpg will EASILY make it's money back and profit a large sum.
