This is blow back since they are owned by Tencent. There is a push by the US to remove Chinese companies influence on US consumers due to spying and selling user information. As per Chinese Law, Chinese companies must do what the government tells them including giving them information on US citizens. This may include financial information. If the person is of interest to the Chinese Government, they can compel the company to make it easy to hack the individual.

Keep an eye on Qualcomm and Haweii and how the lobbyists are really running the government.

The problem and why Trump and his cohorts are such idiots is that Qualcomm NEEDS Haweii just as much as China needs Qualcomm.So now after giving the government tons of money Qualcomm is dealing with Haweii anyhow ,in spite of the government.
Since we are talking billions of dollars here choked off from American businesses and millions funded to the government,you can bet your ass there will be tweaks and changes coming to this hastened response by Trump.
Long story short is Trump is losing favor and has been on a mission with the restructuring free trade agreements with Canada and Mexico and trying to kickstart and create policies to favor big business in America to gain votes, to gain popularity because $$$ is how government is run.problem is he only saw these moves as one sided lol.

Sigh, so cynical.  The financial institution I work for deals with China all the time and I am certain we don't turn over data on US citizens just because they ask for it.

Now, the US government, that's a different story.

I would bet your company does, just not directly, as that would be "bad" but as matter of policy no doubt they are sharing their information with their partners in China, this includes data on their clients, employees, and whatever they are working on, and those partners in China (and other countries) are giving their information to your country, which would be SOP. What each partner does with that information, well depends, like for example, the partners you have in China, no doubt will turn over any and all information they have to the Chinese Government as required/requested, just like your company will turn over it's information to the US government as required/requested. 

So, while you are 100% correct that your company may not directly give the any other government any information, the the information is getting exchanged.

The good side is, most nations do not care about joe average citizen.
