GTA Online Players Angry With Rockstar After Post-Cheating Character Wipe

It looks like cheaters have been dealt with in GTA Online after a recent ban wave from Rockstar, but this has apparently been met with some choice words from players.

They just need to build better cheat detection and stop it before it becomes widespread. On PC you might as well not even bother playing online because everyone, and I mean everyone is using cheats and hacks making the game almost unplayable.

I played the crap outta gta online at one point, cheating or not i had an amazing time, played with my son.

We moved on to something else, we don't play everything together, i notice him on GTA a lot, playing with his buds.

So few days later we were out and he starts telling me all the cheating him and his little partners in crime are doing.

sry can't remember facts and figures, but omg billions? i dunno crazy amounts. This was a long time back can't remember exact passing of time but, another time he's like they (Rockstar) took all the money back. I'm like you're lucky they didn't ban your ass's.

Some time later on again, he's like he didn't ply for a long time and there was some log in for a million, he does and to his surprise all the money they took was back, yep, plus 1 million lmao!

Yeah for sure, but having a son, i know he's about as honest as the day he was born, but hearing him he's not feeling like he cheated, sure he knows he is but him and his buds are totally abusing the system and having a blast doing it, becasue EVERYONE IS doing it.

Totally understand where they are coming from in that sense. It's Rockstar it's like they don't overly care, slow af to respond, and even when you think they corrected by taking back the funds, they somehow gave it all back to them lmao.

First off, you took advantage of a glitch. if you think the developres/game company are going to praise you for it over banning you, you're an idiot. Whether it's a small glitch or a large glitch, if you "take advantage" then you are taking advantage.

Secondly, if "you" get banned but "your mates don't" then they weren't caught. Whatever algorithm they use just didn't catch them.

Choice here? Report them because "you" are an angry person and if you have justice done to you so should they!" or just let it lie. Good on them they didn't get caught but next time they might.


This type of behavior and mentality is poison to gaming. Just accept it, you "took advantage" and you were caught. case closed. It's not the end of the world.

It is sort of funny that a game built around robbing and stealing has produced outrage over cheating. I mean, "Theft" is right there in the name.

Don't get me wrong. I am against cheating. Just savoring the irony.

Well the ONLY thing Rockstar has seemingly cared about is their GTA$$$ so oddly enough this is where they jump in with strict measures.

I only ask WHY people were supporting this BS developer anyhow.Rockstar sends in articles to this site what seems like every second day and are nothing more than adverts for GTA$$$.

Seeing how baseless these articles are,i have to wonder if this site is in on it for monetary reasons,in other words disguised/partnered advertising.

Square Enix did bans and not only bans but dived back deeply into account workings to see if the cheating was by a connected RMT group.The difference is this action was not tied into ANY monetary reason,they simply wanted to stop cheating.
Here using this example,would Rockstar act or have they acted on ANY cheating not related to GTA$$?This is really sad because you already buy the game and ANY and ALL currency SHOULD be kept inside the game and NOT directed to cash shops.

To their credit, in the early days they were great, and made pretty amazing games.

Yep, that's gone now and they're full of crap, but a few people still root for them, for old time's sake.

I kinda hope the more they ban and reset, the more their profit from Online will drop, which will force them to finally make GTA VI.

I cannot understand why Poorna feels we must hear from the cesspool that is Twitter. But if we must how about not picking Tweets with swearing? That's the sort of thing that can get you banned on this forum, so not having it in staff articles is a good idea.

I stopped playing GTA-Online ages ago, cheater/hackers ruined it for me. Went afk for a little bit once and this hacker was shooting a gun to create money bags at my feet to idk, get me banned for cheating or something.
Been playing in private online lobbies, until the point where you can own a business, but you could only make use of that in online servers only, filled with those cheaters/hackers.

Wait, you get banned for swearing?

This is way back, my xbox account was voice chat banned for a year, boys were adorably `10'ish give or take, anyway all their little buddies were over, and ofc let them play on xbox in the basement, next day was going to play some gta with my one son, we had two boxes and he's like can't hear you dad screaming from upstairs, and yeah long short someone was on swearing and my account was speak banned, i could still hear, but voice was locked out, that was so unbelievable frustrating. ofc they knew nothing about about why this happened lmao!

Instead of taking advantage of a glitch and get your account wiped, why not actually do the grinding that most of us do. Look at it as having a real life job. There's not glitches in the real world to help make you money. Do the grinding, take advantage of the triples and doubles each week or have a friend take you through the casino heist to get you started off.

If a game I was playing became overrun with cheating due to poor design and development....  I would simply stop playing said game and find a better online game.

This was something that irked me about Blizzard's classic foray.

They left many issues that were considered glitches or bugs in the game.  Even if you're wanting that "classic" flavor, that sends the wrong message to your gamerbase.

I never understood why people cheat in online games. What's the point you're trying to prove when you do that? There's no need to use cheats in a game like GTA online because you're not competing against others.
The only game I've used cheats on was Call of Duty. I had to do it a few times to play online without getting killed all the time. I got the cheat on https://www.iwantcheats.net/, and it's crazy how well it works.
You can see all the players all the time, and getting headshots is easy when you have an aimbot. You just shoot around and get headshots. It's crazy...
