Well the example mentioned by Poorna was someone more concerned with realism in a MMORPG. Games are not simulations, it does not matter how much your backpack can carry, have a laugh about it and move on.
Things which break immersion tend to be visual, just follow lore and even a UI can look more lore consistent.
Many games have added these, presumably to add to the ambiance of whatever environment the player happens to be in.
While they may do so the first time an area or situation is encountered, or few such occurrences, the contrivance of spontaneity dies quickly along with the immersion that may have otherwise been felt if this repetition was absent.
Games where I have found this to be particularly annoying are ESO and GW2.

Games vary as to their degree of simulation and players vary as to how much they desire. Some players do care about how much a backpack can carry, or that a mount can be summoned from and returned to a pocket dimension at will.

Indeed, but would you call those immersion players? Perhaps. You are the SC guy, do you think it is immersion breaking it does not take years to travel between the stars? Games have to make allowances for gameplay, SF star travel and Fantasy backpacks are just two examples. Where I do agree is its lame to not give an explanation, just call it a Backpack of Holding for example.

everyone above had the basics down. In general for me the insanely oversized weapons that are common in MMO's, and of course along the same vein the ridiculous armor that would never work like the giant stuff for males, the little bikini thong stuff for women. Didn't see mentioned above but environmental invisible walls drive me nuts, and inclines that aren't steep but you can't somehow go up... no those are just so bad.
Being able to "swim" in full plate armor, I mean, c'mon.
At least in Fallout 76 Power armor wearers sink straight to the bottom and don't come with unlimited oxygen supplies, it's not a deep ocean diving suit.

When you crowdfund an MMORPG and they decide to build a battle royale game instead. Ruins my immersion every time!
Um.... you do know it was to test stuff out right?? They blatantly said that. I think your regurgitating what FB told you
Sure it was. It absolutely wasn’t an attempt to cash in on battle Royale games. Nope. Not at all. Stephen said so.
So while developing the mmorpg the they gave their community a fun testing device that the community happily paid for while at the same time supported the studio.

Agian what the problem here?
Are they currently on target to hit their original ETA for the project? If so then that's great! If not, then well... not so great. Did 100% of the people who bought in agree to any delay so they could create a fully functional Battle Royale game? if so... again... great. If not... again... not so great.
But I'm sure we will have this discussion again in the future. Lets just leave this one to the immersion thread.

That is definitely one way to look at it. However, even building "just" a BR game can take considerable time and resources. I would argue that their job is to build an mmo and that they should devote their limited resources to doing just that.
So I think the "problem" is that you are underestimating the time and effort it takes to develop anything, let alone a fully-functional BR.

As a backer you take the responsibility when you give your money to a dev/studio to make the game THEY want to make and HOW THEY want to m ake it. You're not entitled to decide how a company runs it's studio or which features are developed first.
With that said, if you're a indie studio with little resources it makes perfect sense to use Steam network infrastructure to do preliminary PVP tests PVP in a fast, cheap and straightforward way like a BattleRoyal mode.

Seems like it worked though huh?
? It's almost completely backward in every way.
1: The whole reason people back these games in the first place is because they are hoping for a game that suits their niche desires, something that they feel bigger studios cannot deliver. Also, whether realistically or not, many backers feel that they can help shape the game's development, and I think this is an idea which many crowdfunded game companies actively cultivate.
2: The second paragraph is so deluded and wrong, its just fucking ridiculous. There is nothing cheap and straightforward about developing games. Creating a whole new side project that is not even going to be used in the mmo is incredibly wasteful.
Sure it would be something nice to do if you were a massive game company with loads of money and didn't give a rat's arse about wasting it or delivering the promised mmo product in a timely fashion. But small company, limited resources and strained timelines? Why would you do such a thing?

the first time I tried to hit someone and then red letters popped telling me I can’t do that.

Anime doesn't bother me so much, but lolis and cute animal avatars definitely send me fleeing for the exit.
