No Love for a MAC

All these great games come out for pc but Mac users don't get to play these games for at less a year and then we start off with a disadvantage or we never get to play them

And, of course, there's WoW. Blizzard's Mac support has always been top-notch.

I couldent agree with you more. Darn Bill Gates and his OS. And just for the record, I don't think that Mac users are too much of a minority. Most computers used in lab work are Macs, they simply do run better, and more stable. When you are doing things like DNA sequencing, you can't have your computer crash just because of some windows bull crap. Of course the problem is that for games, Macs really do sux, thanks to Billy's little monopoly.

I agree with the serious part of this post...  For all of our high-end analyical instruments, like DNA sequences and synthesizers that we sell, we always send a Mac...  A lot of EP and gel work is strictly done on Macs too...  Hey Drach *enters salespitch*, if you ever need any instrumentation of any kind, I can hook you up with a "MMO-homey discount"...  Seriously...  We sell chromatography of all kinds, DNA seq/synth, microplate readers, scopes, balances, ultracentifuges and etc....  So send me a PM if you want a quote, lates!

Dont worry I went into the future with my time machine and macs are the new thing there::::28::

or there is always runescape ROFL

________No seriously try runescape, it is a great game with pathetic graphics and tons of questionable updates...BUT there is a ton to do! You can mine for 20 hours+ and still not even be close to being on the high score list, you can sell stuff and constantly get scammed or you can slay dragons and shadow men...maybe you could even survive 20 minutes in the wild (hardcore PvP zone which is seriously a pretty good idea for an MMORPG) but you will probably get killed by an overpowered ranger who keeps complaining that mages are overpowered but the mages cry about runes (magic junk) being so over priced. But they all know that with all the updates, warriors will become the most powerful with their really extemely wide variety of overpowered underpriced weapons. Or you could just be one of those people that goes around being a noob (a highly overused word in that game) and saying "get the ***away".........."stupid censors!" AND BEST OF ALL ITS IS FOR THE MAC !!!! __________

    I feel for you

(also its not that macs dont run games as well, its the fact that most people who play games do not use them so developers do not bother making mac versions of games, but I agree macs are much better but there is simply not enough games/software available for it....also they have bad marketing....and bill gates is a genius in fact I mgiht make him my avatar so if anyone can make me a link that shows his face that I can use for an avatar tell me)

But you have to remember the glory days of the mac .... i think .... I mean one of my favorite games fo all time ran really well for the mac....Lemmings and Oh no more lemmings!!! those were some of my favorite games.

seeing how in 2006 Mac will start using intel processors which are more gamer friendly, i would expect to see more and more games showing up on macs. thats great for me becasue i prefer linux/mac over windows any day, the only reason i use windows is because of games.

Schutzbar - Human Warrior - Windrunner Alliance - World of Warcraft
Nihilanth - Kerra Paladin - Blackburrow - EverQuest II
    XBL Gamertag - Eagle15GT

That will change nothing.  Why?  Look at Linux.  Most Linux machines are run on an intel or amd chip and you don't see companies porting games for that do you?  It has to do with changing the code to run on different OSs.  You can't expect any Mac OS to have windows.h can you?  Obviously windows.h is rather generic but you get the picture.

As a sotware developer I must say that one operating system environment is way better than environment with multiple operating system. It is just simple nightmare to develope code for multiple systems and maintain code in that multi OS environment. Windows might not be best OS - but it is way better to develope to one OS than multiple OSs.

Basic problem is that all operating systems are so complex and getting more complex every year, that it is impossible to know well enough more than one operating system (it is already requires many years to master one OS). If you want to maintain and develope code to multi OS environment you are pretty much forced to hire multiple teams that are working in different environments. This would increase management problems and communication problems between developers. It is also extreme hard to find two good developers from different OS and get them work together - they have totally different kind culture. Only big companies like EA can afford this.

Java, .NET (there is also .NET version for NIX systems) and other OS-independent environments are not fast anough and efficient enough for game development. Also these environments are very limited: for example you can't use latest graphic card features in these environments.
