Were these testers volunteers or they paid to test the game. I think that if they paid to test the game they may have some redress on this ban.
If the developers didn't want the testers to break things they should have clearly set those terms out in their testing contract. As much as one can say there are some unspoken rules in situations like this where they were after all testing a game the bounds of testing have to be clearly set out.
Imagine banning people for breaking shit in an alpha/beta.
And more nonsense, in alpha, beta, or release, it is all the same. Find bug and report it or not, but using that bug over and over and over will get you banned in almost every game i have ever participated in.
These morons sat there for hours and took the whole building so the dev's would have to spend time to replace it and no one else could use it.
That is not playing a game, nor is it testing anything other than how to be malicious jerks.

I don’t understand why people don’t get this. They didn’t just find a bug, they wrecked the place.

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'

It feels like this for me. A large department store leaves its doors unlocked. People report it to them but they don't come back to lock it. Two days later it is looted and razed to the ground. All they had to do was leave it alone after reporting. Anything beyond that is malicious and was done so knowing it would take time to replace it. So anyone else playing the game legit and that was using that marketplace is screwed as well until they get it remade. They did it knowingly, maliciously, and went down laughing about it. This wasn't just some overzealous testing.

The players may have dismantled the functionality, but they certainly demonstrated just how deep (and fundamental) the bug actually was.
The players found a bug and probed its limits, and the whole construct fell down like a house of cards. Banning was completely the wrong action. Those involved should have been thanked for pointing out a serious systemic problem in change management at the very least. After all, the players could have said nothing, and this problem could have occurred after the game was 'live' (if it isn't already).
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising everytime we fall.
