World of Warcraft players are no strangers to world firsts, so it's not shocking that just mere hours after the latest expansion, Shadowlands, launched we already witnessed one take place. Just three hours into the launch, Monkeylool of EU-Al'akir became the first player to reach level 60.

Problem is people hear that and think that's doable, or that the leveling is stupid fast, or there is no content, they'll think of anything and everything except the real reason, this is what they do! They practiced, tested, trial and error, a support team. But nope 3 hours, omg wow is joke is all they think.
I can see the appeal. Sort of like "being world first" for a Boss encounter.

1. It's appealing only to someone with a microscopic e-peen.
2. In this particular case it's doable due to how fast leveling is (which I personally find a very stupid and bad decision).
Regarding why I find that fast leveling is stupid and bad is because I think that what they tried to fix for WoW, they did not, they just changed some things on the surface, but deep down the game suffers from the same problems it has been for the last 12 years.

(A typical thru-hiker takes 5 to 7 months to hike the entire A.T.)
Bet the guy beating the record in WOW today can't say the same.

I am not that guy. I hate racing against a clock. Stressful.
EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests
I remember back in the EQ2 days, people were just finishing the max. amount allowable quests without turning them in, before expansion release. Then turn them all in after expac release.
That is one of the tricks they are using to level that fast, next to having a guild supporting them power leveling through group content, like dungeons and using (hidden) exploits discovered during beta, etc.
He can do that with an alt. I mean ..we are talking about 3 hours and just a dungeon and some quests completed, so he..didn't burn himself down.

For a few players WoW is a joke, apparently, at least when it comes to leveling speed. I would hope most realize these are outliers that don't represent the amount of time it will take most players. I know I certainly wouldn't be able to do that if I was playing the game.
Not for me but yeah i totally get it as a goal, a challenge that i'm sure they weren't the only ones trying to achieve. I set myself a goal of capping all classes by the time Shadowlands launches, which i'd have to go verify, but i think i would have not pulled it off if not for the delayed launch.
Meh it's done, and reflecting back it was a really fun time, a great memory, and glad it was done before SL as now, i'm so blown away with how amazing Shadowlands is, never could have imagined it being this f'ing good!
THe level squish was a bad idea in my opinion, feels like I went backwards to far and thats not a good thing in MMoRPGs.
Godz of War I call Thee
Max level was 120, but the game just had a level squish. Now 60 is max level.
Haha, i know you, you live under the rock across from me, how you been man? Haven't seen you around for a long time. lmao!
50-60 is a 15-20 hour thing just doing the campaign quests. Three to four days @ 5 hours / day will do it.
My Warlock is 60 already and I didn't try to go fast... just played a lot

Took me 6 hours to hit level 51 to help put real playing into perspective for people.
I like Vile Taint a lot also for the same reason since it's an AOE DOT.
I was using Creeping Death for a while also since it's a good damage increase for your DoTs but I found the 15% faster just too fast for me when trying to deal with 5+. Creeping Death is the recommended 50 talent and it would be fine with 1-3 mobs but I rather go with larger pulls and in those cases the DoT refresh just gets too hectic with it.
I'm using soul conduit and I went Kyrian for my covenant because the DOT you get from them helps a lot both with bosses and with soul shards in other fights. If the mob doesn't die while it's active the cooldown resets which means you can keep refreshing it on boss fights but if the mob does die while it's on it you instead get 5 soul shards. Also the firs Kyrian soulbind that you get in the soulbind tutorial empowers malefic rapture by +15% for 10 seconds when a mob dies... which synergizes beautifully with the 5 shards you just got from its death
