I wouldn't mind if this forum format went away and the site adopted something akin to what Massively or GameSpace uses. It keeps conversations focused on a specific topic.
Personally I loathe MOP&s format, people don't "converse", rather they just spew whatever they feel and move on.

No debates, no back an forth, most conversations die in less than a day, unless MJ decides to chime in.

"People just spew whatever they feel and move on..." I kinda feel we do a lot of that here and what passes for discussion is just quoted spewing back and forth. But I see your point and this format is much more conducive to ongoing discussions.

It's the conversations dying in a day or two that I like. Honestly how much quality insight and discussion goes on here? People just say the craziest shit, with a lot of trolling in between. It's often really light on facts and information and heavy on venting and bandwagon tribalism. It's not like I can't go to MoP and get that format, yet here I am mostly so whatever.
Yes we bang on, yes it is the same old sometimes, yes we can talk rubbish. But this type of forum is the best way to communicate online, that's what has kept me here and in similar forums elsewhere. I always keep an eye on Torval's posts he comes out with some good rubbish, nearly as good as my rubbish. ;)

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
    Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
    We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again, no, no

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

I always wondered what that concrete block is they peed on. Is it culturally significant in Great Britain or just a random monolith they found and used to make a statement.

If I were to pick a Who song as an anthem to the moment it would be "Heinz Baked Beans" from "The Who Sell Out" album (one of my favorites).
Personally Baba o'reilly (aka Teenage Wasteland) resonated more..

@Kyleran and I talked a bit about this on Discord last night while playing FO76. We discussed some of the ups and downs of the format.

It can be frustrating and tiresome to wade through trollish stuff sometimes as I feel it generally derails an otherwise quality discussion. In our discussion he made the point that while this happens here (probably too often) we also get some very good discussion points going. That rarely if ever happens on the MoP site.
Because MOP are ridiculous at censoring stuff.  Ans they are so blatantly political that it’s hysterical. I watch sometimes as they just stealth delete comments like they are on a crusade  It’s crazy and why I only have a handful of comments there all year.  That said, their news is just... fresher.

I agree, but I was looking for the "new boss/old boss" reference :)

Basically clicking away text windows ruins every MMO, try to have fun instead of rushing things. Without story and lore all there is left is a bunch of mechanics.

Zero communication to forum users - zero acknowledgement forum community even exists lol.

This site has been like a twilight zone episode since Bill and Suzie left - just slowly fading into obscurity
As much as I miss Suzie and Bill, this site started off tiny (back in 04 when I joined) and was about like a monkey shit fight at a zoo in the early days. It survived that, it survived moving from just MMORPGs to covering many genres of games, and it will survive this. People come and go but this site will be here...for better or worse.
