A new Next-Gen Fantasy MMORPG is planned for PC, Consoles, and Mobile called Chrono Odyssey by South Korean studio NPIXEL, and is slated to go into testing in 2021, with a release sometime in 2022.

    Gran Saga, which is said to be an anime cross-platform development, is in open beta registration now, is touted for release in 2021. The same developer is cranking up Chrono Odyssey. I have to wonder that if these are similar games - where is the business model benefit ? Comparing trailers, which may or may not be relevant, they seem similar to one another. If the target audience doesn't like one, then they will play the other ?

    If it's going to be available for mobile, then does that mean it's going to be one of those games that plays itself in order to make it playable on mobile? Or is it a real MMORPG that somehow fits into mobile controls?

    I think it's hard to say right now. 

    Say what you will about Genshin Impact though, but I think it's going to teach mobile developers a few lessons on how you can make a good action game without needing to have it play itself.

    You know what'd be cool? The South Korean technical and graphical MMO gaming expertise together with a non-predatory monetization model.

    Their CGI and game-play trailers always make things look interesting but it's hard to have any real interest in them until you get the details of just how they're going to tie in-game progress to cash shop items, which they always do. That kills it for me.

    Reallly I dont want to see games made for all 3 formats....it puts too many limitations on the gameplay trying to accomodate for mobile and console.

    Also MMORPG.com typical forum user, after a new game has been announced about which we know very little : This is going to be a pile of turds and I wish MMORPG.com would stop wasting my time with that crap !

    I don't doubt that they can make a terrific animated movie and call it a trailer.  What exactly that has to do with the actual game is unknown, and may be totally unrelated.  It may be that NPIXEL's ability to create amazing animated videos far exceeds their ability to make a MMORPG.  I don't know, never seen any of their other work.

    I really wish people would see the marketing for what it is: marketing.  They want to sell you something.
