Sadly I believe it will be too much like Andromeda and not enough like the trilogy. The change in engine when they made DA:I and ME:A gave them some beautiful worlds, but everything else just fell flat. They felt like solo MMORPG worlds. Quantity over Quality quest.
In War - Victory. In Peace - Vigilance. In Death - Sacrifice.
Interesting they're going with an N7 continuation instead of Andromeda 2. I mean in MY ending for ME3 a continuation of the trilogy is possible because there's a strong hint that Shepard survived but the game had other user selected endings where he definitely did not.

Didn't you know. Miranda escaped with Shepard's clone data from ME2.

In SF and fantasy no character is truly dead if the fans want them back and/or the writer wants them back for the story. That's even true of general fiction, but readers there have less tolerance for too much repurposing of the mortal coil.

and since they didn't care much from the story, and the writer who started leave a long time already its not like they care what thing they will puke on

I think people are missing the most important part of the trailer "N7"

Read all of drew karpyshyn novels while playing the games as they came out, the 4th book meh, the guy is Mass Effect, the game put me in the world, the novels embedded me in the world.
Thinking about it... we go on and on about the golden years of mmorpg's, this franchise, trilogy, was also the golden years of single player games.
I mean yeah, it's not only us mmorpg players whom lost out to corporate greed. Man, did they ever snuff out creativity all genre's wide.
tbh i've not played many single player games lately so... but the ones i have, RDR2 for example as some of the few i have played, they're good, they look amazing, but to me they lack something and fail at keeping me engaged.
Read a bit about Cyberpunk and i'm more interested in it than i was before in that it sounds to me a little heavy on the story narrative, cough Mass Effect cough, so i dunno 6 months prolly give it a spin.

Wow, odd timing! I just did a reload on ME:A doing another play through. It’s a really good game when you stop comparing it to the other ME games. For me however, ME2 is ME.
Glad to see the series is continuing but I’d really like to see a legit ME MMORPG. Not a shooting gallery.
My one son is also a huge fan of the franchise and we came to the same thoughts, on its own, people would have realized what an amazing game it is, but it drowned in the shadow of Mass Effect. Had they named it simply andromeda, it would have done well, but nope they tried to cash in on the ME name instead.
I'd bet this is Mass Effect 4, people are not going to be losing their shit over an Andromeda 2, i mean i hope they aren't that stupid, please no one could be that stupid, Mass Effect 4, people will totally be losing their shit over that.
N7 most likely reveal outcome, Mass Effect 4

Not a fan of the combat which is typically what turns me off.I will say that the fast slide is at least a better option than seeing all the games going to somersaults which looks stupid. However it is mostly just guns/melee with no real good weapon choices like other shooter games that I enjoy ,example Quake Unreal. To me after 30+ years of gaming, seeing a hand pistol or a shotgun is like incredibly boring.
There is one more positive and that is the ability to take cover which imo is a realistic ideal that should be in every shooter.I can't stand seeing gamers just stand out in the open and trade fire, there should ALWAYS be some form of strategy.
However there is still too much wide open areas of gameplay,i prefer shooters to be in well designed arenas.Example a splash damage weapon has to be avoided in this game because there is no true cover from that type of weapon,so it dilutes what the game could offer for strategy.
IMO the reason why so many shooters are so bad is because the devs try and bait gamers in with loot/gear which then determines how good your player is instead of strategy.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I honestly don't understand why BW went with this... "andromeda stuff", instead of making choices from the last game (ME3), where you can pick another choice with Shepard and continue your journey. Favorite heroes always sells, no matter what. Ppl wanted another Cpt. Shepard, not some random bullshit based on the lore of ME universe. It didn't work, and it won't work because ME series (before ME4), had strong connection in the lore and the way it's plays.
Same goes for this.. Witcher 4 stuff, which I heard that CDPRJ is gonna make after they are done with Cyberpunk, but it won't be based on Geralt, it will be something else.
OK nobody? Another hint, that's Liara in the teaser, this is 100% Mass Effect 4
Mass Effect 5. You can see the Andromeda galaxy and a voice saying "Ark 6 leaving" in it (the Quarian ark was the 5th and they left as the Batarian system feel to the Reapers).
Also, Liara is all wrinkly. Samara looked younger and she was near 1000 years old...
I really feel if Andromeda took the path of it's own thing, new IP, nothing to do with mass effect, it probably wouldn't have been hammered so hard, overall i enjoyed the game and i'm pretty sure i didn't finish it, but i barely scratched RDR2 comparatively, single player games lately i dunno, progression is my vice.

nope the problem was less about the ip and more about the whole of the game, bugs who damned the game, even after years trying to fix you still could find some, boring 20 seg combat, they had a nice idea of mods finding you and dropping troops, but they drop some and then don't ever again, with also mean most players would just keep running with they vehycle past over then, ignoring it. casting was bad, they didn't have one char you could say I loved then, at most you find 1 or 2 who is not that bad, also lack of skill to use in combat, even the banting was not that funny, the game tried to sell as a new epic, but in the end failed to sell even as a action rpg,
the ip was the seller, the delivery was atrocious, even if we ignore teh IP there is no saving it, it would be like anthem

Mass Effect with Shepard (N7) was designed from the start as a Trilogy. It were amazing games with a good core story. It was a huge shame they messed up the ending (but that horse has been beat to death a thousand times over, so I leave it at that). If you just ignore the last 10 mins of ME3, then it's just one of the best gaming trilogies of all time and I lost count how many play throughs I have done. It's one of my most favorite games of all time.
Andromeda was made by a new, inexperienced team, since most of the veterans at Bioware had left, including the lead writer that created Mass Effect universe.
The result was a terrible mediocre game, riddled with bugs and comically bad characters and animations. It was very amateur and it became a meme on the internet for a while.
Add to it that Mass Effect = Shepard (N7), people just didn't feel it in Andromeda. Like you said. The game was just a generic buggy SF game and had nothing to do with Mass Effect other than it being in the game's title.
It's the same with many movie franchises really, where you just have such a strong performance of certain actors portraying the lead characters, carying the whole franchise and why a lot of the reboots/sequels without the original cast just keep flopping at the box office.
Alien = Sigourney Weaver ( Lt. Rippley ) Terminator = Arnold Zwarzenegger ( T-800 ) Home Alone = Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern Indiana Jones = Harrison Ford ( Indy ) Miami Vice = Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas etc
Next to this you have such iconic movie series, where two actors just have such a magical bond, that it splashes of the screen, that just carries the whole movie(s) and make it impossible to reboot really and why it hasn't happened. It's those casting of a lifetime moments, when the right persons meet at the right time and right moment.
Lethal Weapon 1-4 = Mel Gibson, Danny Glover and Joe Pesci Back to the Future 1-3 = Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd. etc
Star Wars IV + VI fall a bit in the middle, but it's safe to say that these 3 films are considered the best three of the series due to the strong performance of Carie Fisher, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford (along with Chewy, R2D2 and C3PO). The prequels and sequels just did not had that magical bond between the cast that the early trilogy has.
Sorry lol. Getting all nostalgic /sigh
So yeah...long story short... Mass Effect is just not Mass Effect without Shepard.

Yes that much is obvious when Liara pickes up the N7 armor plate. Now lets hope they put a good writer on the game that can write a good story worthy of being Mass Effect 4.
