Just got an Msi Rtx 3090

Well, I managed to find a price I can live with for this card.
I am upgrading from a Vega Frontier Edition Liquid Cooled. It's going to be a bit of a jump up. I was looking at both the Rtx 3090 and 2900xt. The 3090 just performed substantially better in Blender which was my main criteria.
Going to need a few more days once it gets here to make sure it works and paste a waterblock to it. I also need to make a couple adjustments to my water loop.

Does "price you can live with" mean MSRP, or did you pay well above that to buy it on Ebay or something?

Well above is relative when you are already spending over $1000. But Yea, enough to buy a mid range gpu over msrp. Now that I look again, it's the Msi model that had ALOT of units stolen. Hope it's not.

That will be quite a jump. Congrats.

I've been sitting in the EVGA queue for a 3070 and a 3060Ti since... the day they announced. According to some unofficial trackers, since I didn't get signed up until about 5 hours after they started accepting registration, I can expect either to pop up around April or May....

It won't be that big of a jump. More like the minimum improvement you would want to see when replacing a gpu. The Vega Frontier Edition is a beast if you can properly cool and power it.
The issue with prosumer cards is that their drivers are neglected. AMD wasn't that bad at supporting the Vega Frontier, but they were still a bit slow with drivers. The Titan V had terrible driver support. That's why I wanted to go with a consumer card this time around.

The local store I usually buy from has had the 3090 (Asus TUF) in stock for about a month, priced at EUR 2300. Well above the MSRP. Similarly, the Asrock RX 6900XT is at 1700. True, they're customs, but still...

Personally, I will probably be waiting for the 3080 Ti, but in any case won't be buying at these 50% increased prices. This whole situation's had a knock-on effect on the whole lot, from overpriced or unavailable MBs, to overpriced or unavailable PSUs in the 850W - 1kW range, etc.

Since I'm planning to replace the whole PC and I'm not really in a rush, I can wait a couple of months.

Anyway, congratulations on your new card!
