When I first started hearing rumors of the 10 levels thing, I refused to believe it until proof was given, and also told myself that if it were actually the case, I wouldn't be playing DDO.

However, reading up on WHY they are doing it this way does make sense. It answers one of the questions I've had about the game early on--how they intended to make the trip to level 20 last a decent amount of time.

Although it seems bad at first glance, I approve.

Well, there is 10 levels + 40 ranks to earn...so "50 levels"...or 49 dings, whichever way you prefer it. Althought, they somehow manage to get to 40 rather then 50. I guess it is not as bad as a teacher I meet once that always figure that 3 time more than another was a ratio of 2/3 rather then 3/4 for the water repartition on Earth and teach that mistake for 25 years.

I doubt that the StormTrooper foresee the spell acquisition problem. Playing a cleric in DDO would be like earning new spells at level 9, 19, 29, 39 & 49 only in old EQ or in WoW...But maybe he foresee that and will make that interesting for casters? I will give him the benefit of the doubt even if I dont believe in it 1 second.

This is definitely going to be an interesting MMO to play, in terms of the way you earn exp for quests and how you level, earning levels and rankings within levels. I can't wait until I can get in on the next round of Alpha or Beta invites and see how this will play out in the game itself.

D&D players are beeing cheated. DDO is twinking and changing all the D&D rules set, plus it will be launched with a 10 lvl cap. If you like D&D, mark my words and stay away from this. They gonna launch a game wich really isnt D&D, just another Asherons Call makeup. Dont support cheating like Turbine been doing with Wizards of the Coast. This isnt D&D just another fast $ machine.

I dunno about the "10 levels"...sounds like they're going to release before finished and add the next 10 levels as a free expansion.   [Turbine originally stated a level cap at 20]

Is the addition of the "quarter-levels" NOT D&D?  I've played "old school" AD&D [aka 1st editionimage] since 1978 <second edition was full of holes though people seemed to like it> and only fairly recently switched to d20 system 3.0 edition <not spending yet another $120+ to "upgrade" to 3.5!>   That being said, I am still greatly looking forward to DDO - it IS D&D since the first rule of DMing is "the DM can make any changes that he wants/the players will allow".  Turbine is the DM. 'nuff said.
