I quit WoW before Burning Crusade - never played the game again, never will. I have really fond memories of vanilla WoW - I have no desire to play again as those memories the way they are cannot be matched - this I know.

This is why I never went back to vanilla WoW and why I will never play again.

Should have done the same with EQ1 - as the memories I had from 1999-2001 are the peak of MMORPG experience for me - playing P99 has never matched the original and has soured the game for me honestly.

So the lesson learned for me - if you have great memories - let them be, don't try to "relive the past and recapture the feeling" - as it's never going to be the same.

That's just my 2c - to each their own.

Burning Crusade kinda hurt the game imo......THe gear shot up substantially and the gear treadmill became worse than ever...I hit level 70 with a couple toons and I'd seen enough and left. IIRC this was the point where they started to have multiple server dungeons and instant queues for dungeons and the community fell apart as a result.
I thought dungeon finders were with WOTLK
WoW had dungeon finders in Vanilla.  They didn't actually work, but they existed.  The real dungeon finder then was /who.
OK So I saw a quote from a dev yesterday saying they had functionality to find parties in TBC, but it wouldnt port you to the dungeon or anything.  they stated that functionality was almost never used anyway, which is probably why I don't remember it lol.  I jsut found groups in the zone while leveling or in guild.

Every server turns to a progression server heading in to BC, at log in you have the option to put your toon on 1 of 2 classic servers forever.

You have to pay a one time fee to have your character(s) on both i think.

What i wonder is what if i wanted to finish a character to 60 then go to a BC? Maybe that token or whatever you buy handles that.

Classic/vanilla has a distinct different feel from all of WoW, BC included. I would have preferred to have a Classic Plus.

I'm guessing you'll have to choose to stay on vanilla then when you're ready you'll have to pay to transfer or copy to a bc server.

Yeah, probably, just the way it works, and I've not come across anything concrete as yet and not that i'm digging deep for an answer.

It's a token maybe, one possibility hopefully would be if stash it in bank and decide later? Hard to know exact as initially all toons are copied both sides, and names are reserved both sides, caught something where they would like to free up names on whatever side you are no longer going to play on.

You can go ahead and play on BC and if you decide to play classic much later, you have a copy of that toon on classic, but would have to pay to play it.

Overall i really like how they decided to handle it. I know i'd like to stay classic forever, big difference in the feel, which is gone in BC for some reason. Plus i seriously can't see playing BC or Wrath, overplayed them back in the day.

BUT, i would like to be there for this launch, which probably will, it's throwing in the gotta decide RIGHT F'ING NOW pressure at login seems harsh, but understand why too.

I have alts but nothing at 60 (which was my only goal), prerequisite for BC is 58 which again i'm not even that, so i'd just get to run around in BC classic changes. Writing this out makes zero sense for me to bother as yeah i could level in BC so much faster but the BC doesn't have the same feel as classic. so yeah Classic for life.

They answered this in a Q&A I saw someone post.  they posted all of the questions asked regarding TBC.

If you log in to a char after the prepatch hit your char will have been moved to the classic version of the server. You are then presented with a choice to remain classic only or transfer to TBC.  I believe they stated that if you choose to stay on classic, you can pay to transfer a copy to TBC.  But if you choose to go to TBC first that's all you can do.  Either way, you can't play that char until you've made your choice.
