Are you bad at video games?

I am good at video games, almost all genres.  I've been playing my whole life.  Self-competition and improvement, not interested in e-peen stuff.

Playing a single quarter playthrough on Streetfighter 2 arcade machine, on any character... and smashing human challengers... was a fun after school activity.

But I find myself in games on help channels (ones that have them), helping out players... that gives me great joy.  I often stop and help players struggling with a fight in game, and converse a bit afterwards to see if they need tips.  I'm a sucker for giving gold away to noobs to help a bit get started.

Just like Mortal Online 2 Stress Test thread... trying to give advice and links to guides to help new players (even though I physically can't play it this weekend).

It's all about fun, and spreading fun these days. :)
How is mortal online 2, it is the only mmorpg im interrsted in.

I was in the November beta, did a write up.  Can't be in this one due to real life stuff.

Don't pay, wait for another free beta or wait for post launch reviews is my advice.  You can pay, and be in alpha, I wouldn't.

For FFA PvP full loot, actually has some cool potential, but lacks a bunch of stuff right now... but is progressing.  But cool economy, crafting, building, player driven everything... in theory.

There actually will be a murder system of sorts (if you are both aligned to the same region, and neither criminal- read my post in the Stress test thread), and you can only have 1 character per account... so I feel it will not just be a gankfest everyone claims.

I think a big part of the problem is I don't really focus on any one game anymore like I used to......I got good at Everquest because I played it alot for about 5 years.....Most games now I play a few weeks and move on...It's hard to get good at something when you move around alot.....I know in music and in sports you have to practice ALOT to get good, and not only practice but "correct practice" with proper training and teaching.

I have always been a competitive person when it comes to all games, I hate losing, I hate dying, I always want to win. Me and my older brother has always been that way, and the physical advantage he had with sports I took back when it came to gaming.

I'm still good at games even though dedication and reaction time is no longer what it was 5-10 years ago.od at games.

The only aspect of gaming I'm bad at are things that requires out of the box creative thinking and trial & error approaches.  old fashioned puzzle adventure games never was my thing.

You get a certain point in life you're not as good as you once was in gaming. I don't even have time to worry about ladders these days. 20 years ago maybe. Just playing for fun after my non gaming stuff finishes these days.
Yes, that is also due to time commitment... as you've alluded to.
Time commitment is where I fail at Paradox Interactive games like Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron, and Crusader Kings. I don't want to take the time to learn those games, though the concepts intrigue me :)

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

Some, yes. I have issues with games that require me to concurrently focus on many things, and those that inflict immediate death as consequence. I find the former stressful and the latter annoying as a game element at all.
