Profane is billed as an open PvP, full loot sandbox MMORPG in development from creator INSANE Game Studio, and the team behind the upcoming MMO just recently hosted a Reddit Ask Me Anything, diving into the game in progress.

That just reads to me 'Unfair ganking, playing by oneself is impossible while other people go out to deliberately fuck you over, destroy your progress, and ruin your day'. No thanks.

Looks like it has been hanging around for quite a while.
Not anything I would care about though...never seen the fun in being a target for all that want to screw you over, which is what I associate with full loot PVP.
Some people like the challenge that PVP offers , rather than the PVE offerings in games today that Helen Keller can best..
Or maybe we are talking the ones that camp spawn points to attack naked people that have died? Yup that's challenging I bet....
But then maybe you are talking the ones that go to lower leveled areas to kill new players...a real challenge there...
Or waiting on people to log out to completely destroy what others have built, yup another challenge...
Full loot pvp games most often turn into exactly this, driving anyone that really wants to fight others fairly, away. Always seems to turn into a challenge for the dev's to nerf this or that to try to corral the ones that do nothing but try to screw over others. Not fight others...but just look for the easiest way to take advantage of the games loop holes.
Seems like a pretty big challenge to me to try to make code changes faster than these people can find ways to make others leave the game. Kind of makes little sense to me, but oh well.
If people can make a full loot pvp game that works...more power to them. But I have yet to see one that works.
I mean, if that is the what they make, where you log in, build a fort, and beat the crap out of each other, but as opposed to a timed game, the world is more persistent, that could be a fun take on the idea.
But if they make it so that players can take significant losses upon death, chances are this game will be a ghost town in a very short time. Not saying there won't be some that might like this, just that it will be a very small niche'.
Gankfest/griefer/psychos/empty game... noob campers...etc.
It all depends on the game's systems and community. The closest FFA PvP about to launch is Mortal Online 2. Not sure if I will play it or not yet( I think a lot needs to be added)... but two key things about the game:
Systems: They are working and tweaking a regional PVP reputation system and murder system. Basically, if you are regionally allied with a player, and kill them... you can eventually become a murderer... which is KOS by city guards and players can KOS you with no penalties. Much more to it.
Players: The strongest guilds in the game are ARPK (Anti Random Player Killers). They protect solos, new players, anyone... from just being randomly killed. They hunt down RPKrs and return stuff... add them to their Kill on Sight (KOS) list. Entire guilds get added to KOS. Due to MO2 topography, it's very hard to gank and run away from these guilds. Also, you get 1 character per account, so your reputation matters unless your willing to pay for multiple accounts and subs.
So, we'll see how it shakes out... but FFA PVP can not just be written off.
The thing that anyone that might get upset by these claims needs to understand, is that the people making them, are NOT the ones that affect or influence them, outside perhaps the "Ghost Town" claim, and this is only done by simply not playing the game, so again the quality or type of people that occupy these games, is purely a byproduct of the kind of game it is.
But at the end of the day, no matter what system gets put in, anyone that does not want to play a full loot open world PvP game, will still not play this game, so the game will only ever attract people that enjoy full loot Open World PvP Games, and that, no matter how you slice it, is a small demographic of players. And anyone that does not want to play a PvP game, playing games like this, is as silly as jumping into a battle royal game and not wanting to PvP.
If you didn't want to PvP, you picked the wrong game to play.
BR's are just simple pvp games and looter shooters are the other successful money makers.
So since those two ideas are making millions, studios just try their own spins on those two concepts.
Sooooooo in reality, just copy cats all of them, nobody is trying to be creative or make THEIR own game.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice
You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill
I will choose a path that's clear, I will choose Freewill

Trust lol, in 6 months time the devs will be desperate to pull this off as a pve/PvP game lol.
The history of this genre says otherwise, especially about the demographics. I would expect to hear *real* whining if I could make your character sit in a tavern and listen to the bards sing, or the discuss local politics of Freetown. You know, impose my RPing preference on an unwilling bystander.
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.
