Some WoW Players Are Pretty Upset Over The Burning Crusade Classic's Character Clone Fee | MMORPG.com

With World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Classic fast approaching, some of the features (and their costs) are being made known to players to continue their journey into Outland. During the initial announcement on Thursday, Blizzard also detailed the cost for some of its convenience services, including a $35 fee to clone your character across both Classic and TBCC servers.

The "true" classic experience for purists who wanted to roll back the clock (and were outraged when someone made a free group finder add-on for Classic,) would be to level-up and move on to BC when the character is ready. If I were still playing it (I'm not - got bored with it pretty quickly) that's what I would do. 

Character cloning where you get to keep the same character in both servers and paid boosts to 58 ain't "classic."

Both of those things are over priced, yes, but also perfectly aligned with the cost of level boosts and server transfers (and in modern WoW that's not cloning, just a move) that Blizzard has sold for many years for modern WoW.

Whining about this, which presumably is being sold to those who sort of want a "classic" BC experience... ish, using a modern wallet-warrior method to get there gets zero sympathy from me.

If you hate a game or can't support a practice a company is doing then don't buy their game.

Maybe I miss understood it but aren't they simply charging for people who want the same character on two different servers the way i read it was you can move on with existing guy or stay but not both unless you pay. I really don't have a problem with this other then the price seems high.

and that's exactly how Activision-Blizzard makes more money with less players. Keep it up Blizzard. this is great business model. Love it. If I was CEO I would do the same. Can't blame them. From a player perspective it sucks, I hate it. But I understand. And since I would do the same for my players I can't be mad right?

I've never understood the business model/strategy of: if there seems to be less customers then blindly charge them more to recuperate any costs short-term without figuring out why there's less customers than before for long-term growth & recovery. From the business side of things I think if the customers will tolerate it then why not charge them for it.

Yes. You can keep your character on classic or move it to tbc for free. It only costs money if you want to have both.

It's almost like they lost 11 million players but are squeezing the remaining ones even harder. $35 dollars per character.

I would have been fine with that prize if it was like new experience or new game or it was like only version of WoW. But what they are doing is selling me a game that I already played and payed 10 years ago, and it isn't even the main version of WoW. The retail is that is getting all the new content, so yeah I am not interested paying for TBC.

My 6-month sub ran out yesterday, though I hadn't logged in for the past couple months. I was going to come back for 9.1 and possibly sooner to play TBC, but after all the BS Blizzard have pulled lately I'm skipping TBC and just might say F* it with WoW altogether.

Unless you want to keep one character in classic and another in TBC you don't have to pay. I don't understand what all the fuss is about.

The "they are a business so they can abuse the hell out of you" argument is so naïve. People like that are the reason MTX are as bad as they are now. Companies LOVE people like that.

So ppl think that when they pay 14,99$ they should have access to WoW, WoW classic and WoW classic TBC... (Also remember You can buy sub and even other Blizz games with wow ingame money... what other company does that?). isn't that like three different games ran on 3 different servers? IMHO Blizz should go with 2-3 different subbing systems. 1 for each or 1 for current patch+classic and the other one for TBC...[mod edit]

Nah just the same game with different nostalgia wraps. 

But still. If you want them to be available simultaneously you need 3x amount of servers, dedicated support etc. which costs money
