Hood Outlaws & Legends can be a fun game. Can be is the operative phrase here, as the "fun factor" is heavily dependent on a number of variables, most important being simply who you are playing with. A fantastic concept on paper, Hood stumbles a bit with its execution. Couple this with a subpar PC port and Hood feels just a little half baked in the end.

When I first saw it a couple of weeks ago I got excited. But I quickly realized all the points you make above. This game has too much factors that can be screwed up, especially the fact that you can wait for the enemy team to fail and then take over with ease.

Hope they are able to fix the major problems, as the idea is really awesome. Will wait until I see more (hopefully) positive reviews in a couple of months.

I read "Pros" list and I can't really find anything that could be solid "Pro". Yea it is fun at core if you play it for 1-3 hours, but when you actually go further the game becomes really boring really fast because you start to see flaws in game design and it is not like game is getting anymore complex.

Sounds like devs loved Division's dark zone and thought it would make a good stand alone game. I dont see this making back the cost to produce it. This kind of game brings out the worst in people.

So, my brother was a big Payday 2 fan. How much confidence could I have in recommending this game to him since it seems to be the same sort of thing?

I refunded the game. Not that it is bad. It's a good concept and has promise, but it was poorly executed at launch. There is a lot of quality of life things they need to change to make this game fun. Not being able to change keybinds is pretty bad, specially when assassination is tied to the action button. The winching system needs to see changes or a new end-game mechanic needs to replace it. The classes need to be balanced. There is so much they can do to make this game feel better.

But also, a game that launches with 8k peak player on day one is not very promising for the longevity of the game. I will continue to keep an eye on the game as more updates are pushed out and see where the community is then before I buy back in.
