Say goodbye to ES6. Quite clearly they have lost their way on this title.

I was expecting this game to release in 2022. Then again if Starfield is release in a bad form then this studio is pretty much dead to me.

ES 6 is obviously on hold until Starfield is launched, that may be a good thing or bad, rather depends on how  good SF turns out to be.

People still dont get it? As long as they can milk skyrim they will not release anything that could endanger its sales. Skyrim still sells well on all platforms. Its all about the money for them.

'Todd Howard is still in a bloviating phase.'

Though truly there was little to speak of here, so minimal bloviation.

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

Not surprised, the ES tag is the only thing ESO has left going for it. Been on a never ending downhill slope for 4-5 years now. Worsening expansions, repetitive easymode content, less and less value per update for the same price, a huge focus on the cash shop which has become more and more aggressive, a longer and longer list of unfixed bugs several of which keep popping up from launch, and worsening performance issues that are no longer limited to Cyrodiil. Cash cow mode activated

I"m sure it will be fine. They are one studio and they are working on other stuff.

Elder Scrolls is one of their largest, if not the largest, IP. It's a veritable guarantee to print money.

I'm also guessing they are working on adding larger cities/towns given some of the recent comments about how they used to make towns/cities.

Why would they ever make a Fallout 5?

They can milk people with the cash shop in F76.

    Same thing for ES.

Why would they ever make ES6?

The can milk people with the cash shop in ESO.

This company is all in on the live service cash shop bandwagon. To laughable degrees.

Maybe they were hard at work using some of those years making another skyrim re-release for the next gen consoles.

In other news Bethesda plans to announce remaking the entire Elder Scroll Series for mobile.  This will be a high priority, the entire team will be focused to this project.

When i watched that interview of him years ago saying that the technology is what they are waiting on for Elder Scrolls 6; i knew right then how serious he was.

TES is their baby, they may have done quite a lot of missteps with their side projects like Fallout 4 and 76, and yes, i consider anything that isn't a number Elder scrolls game a Bethesda side-project.

Anyone who has following Bethesda since the early days, they've been done this road before- before Morrowind, they fell into the same trap of trying to keep up with industry and consumer demand of delivering releases.

They were in financial trouble before Morrowind, and Zenimax bought them out to get them back to work and it's what made Morrowind possible. (Thanks Christopher Weaver.)

When i saw the buyout of Bethesda to Microsoft, i thought to myself: "Is this another moment in time when Bethesda gets saved out of their financial woes and comes back to create a juggernaut title like Morrowind?"

That is kind of the hope i have holding out for them right now, we've seen this before of them going down a road of rocky and subpar game releases, get bailed out of trouble, and then return victoriously with a genre defining game; I'm hoping that's what Elder Scrolls 6 will be.

I don't care much for Starfield though; space games make me sick to my stomach when they are hyper realistic, it's why i could never play EVE online despite my love and fascination for space itself, i have a super fear of heights, and space is like the ultimate height scare. xD

Not even excited for this at all. Skyrim was awful compared to previous entries into the series and Bethesda really hasn’t made a truly great game in years. Morrowind was their best game and since then, they’ve gone completely downhill. The Bethesda/Skyrim fanbois will disagree, but they don’t know an actually good RPG if it slapped them in the face. Bethesda is a hollow shell of its former self, just empty and soulless.

hmmm, it's a good theory but after all the continual sales of skyrim on numerous platforms, I find it hard to believe they are having financial woes.

It seems they even turned fallout 76 around as it seems to have players. Fallout 4 as well for that matter.

though how many players they need for '76 in order to keep it going is another matter.

No, I think they were sold because it was an investment and it was time to reap the profits.

I don't think Zenimax would have cost $7.5 billion if they were in financial trouble.

Also I think last time Zenimax was in headlines because of layoffs was something like 2015.

Also Fallout 76 and Elder Scrolls Online have both seen quite a lot of continuous development. If Zenimax were hurting for money I don't think they'd invest that unless it was profitable.

Imho there's no evidence or indication that this sale would been because of financial troubles.

um sure. don't really agree there at all. And while I played Morrowind for a full 2 years and doing another playthrough (and think, for my taste, it is my favorite of the games) it has a lot of issues that mar it so that it doesn't even hold a candle to Oblivion and Skyrim. Let alone daggerfall. It's not a perfect game.

But welcome to the forums! I realize that's Scot's job but he's out back eating pizza.

Blame FO76 for the delay. It took all hands on deck to turn their shit show of a surprise! game into less of a shit show.

Blame it also for the 11/22 release date for Starfield instead of 11/21.

You seems to forgetting one important thing. Microsoft did not take them over to sell more Skyrim. They took them over to sell more game pass. For that they need a steady release of good games.
