Why New World fries your graphics card, I think

Ok, go to any place out in nature. All the grass is frantically waving back and forth.

The tide on the beach goes in and out every 1 second.

Currently have an AMD 5950X and 6800XT and it will overheat if I set it on 4K max everything.

Take a look at your screen, what percentage of the screen is changing over time? A lot? They  have tons of mists, lighting,  wind effects, shadows, etc, all over the place.

Every bit costs power and heat, and in NW, there are a lot of bits changing on the screen.

Too much.

Give us a slider to turn down graphics activity. Or add a timer to graphics effects. The tide should go out every 5-8 seconds.

uh huh... NW puts less strain on max settings than BDO does on it's max settings, if you're having overheating issues, improve your cooling solutions.

I live above 8,000 feet, and the air is thin and dry. I've had motherboards literally melt their power connectors.

So it is possible it's just me, except it isn't. The frenetic activity is a big contributor, I think

The issue is due to air density, you'd need more and/or faster RPM fans to push more air.

That or find components that are designed for operation at high altitudes.

Either way, I've played BDO and NW at max settings and once NW releases I'll be playing it at max settings. While I know I personally avoid running BDO at max settings because it's unbearable playing a game at 25-30 FPS.

You may have a better setup than average for heating; there are a lot cf complaints about GPU heating.

If your graphic card is overheating due to high altitude, then try underclocking it. Alternatively water coolers are good at altitudes, since you can just get extra big radiator to compensate for the lower air density.

Umm are we not stating the obvious?Of course your card,ANY card will run hot if pushed to it's limits.
The problem i see that is important is that these cards supposedly have working temp monitors,9 of them.Well are these monitors not doing their job,are they just for show what exactly do they do?Are the monitors not responding fast enough or th esoftware not responding fast enough once the monitors register the gpu is too hot?

As to the game itself,i mentioned the same thing abotu Atlas several times as Atlas IS a massive hog on system resources.Maybe the one big difference is that in Atlas tons of people have tames/pets and all those along with many creatures wandering around with decent AI are all going to bog down a system. Then in Atlas we have ships, water physics, tons of structures loading on the water fronts where everything is also loading at the same time.

The catch is that i play Atlas on a gaming laptop not nearly as powerful as a PC but i am also not trying to run the game in 4K mode.I feel nobody needs to run any game in 4k so your just pushing your machine for VERY little noticed visually.

You can blame a studio for poorly optimizing their game but you cannot blame them for poorly designed video cards and their accompanying software/bios.

Like I said, go to anywhere in the world, and watch how the grass is twitching every micro-second, and the waves crash on the beach every second.

Then ask yourself why people are complaining about heating on graphics cards.

So you're literally saying the game needs to go back to old school graphics? The whole point of more powerful hardware is so that we can have increased animations and details. NW is nowhere near the most demanding game I have played, and generally, if your hardware is working correctly, your system will slow down (at a cost of decreased FPS) to protect itself from overheating.

All these issues are hardware, not software.
