Is it going to be wiped? If so then it’s not the released game as it means the “persistent universe” is not in fact persistent.
Alpha = wipe
Persistent universe (in alpha) is to compare to none persistent universe (also in alpha) with items starting to stay where they are supposed to stay. This not related with wipe or no wipe concept as SC is not advertised as a fully finished game.... yet
The day they announce no more wipes I'll take a look, but first I'm hoping SQ42 will release so I can get an idea of what the greater game might be like.
....And that's a big reason that SQ42 isn't released. An actual game, with troubles and flaws from their poor management, would interfere with the dream world marketing pitch for Star Citizen.
The many problems and flaws of an alpha (despite it being run as a GaaS) would not be nearly as acceptable in a released product. Plus we already know that they've lied on camera about SQ42 game production.
They are not about to mess with the golden goose.
What you describe as a conspiracy is called in a world caring about gamer community: "Do deliver a product WHEN READY"
I've been saying for years that this game is going to be a huge success.
It is already a massive failure because the game lags severely behind the budget and has no end game in sight. An organized team has a GOAL to complete the game, this team has ZERO clue as to when and how to finish the game.
All RObert's and Co are doing is just delaying over and over for as long as the money keeps rolling in.The res of us said for YEARS this was going to not release for a VERY long time and we were right.
IMO this will NEVER release as finished UNTIL no more money is coming in then it is phase 2 of marketing a finished game.
It is also a fail from day 1 because it is a p2w game, this segregates the intelligent gamer from the dumbasses who will just throw money at the developer. The idea of a game design should be one that brings together ALL players at the EXACT same cost.
The idea of a game and world and character is to EARN your keep and not buy it from some magical cash shop in the sky.So this game fails on pretty much ALL accounts and can never be fixed moving forward,it can only get worse.
Your comment is a massive attempt obfuscation.
There are not below budget at all. Publishers did spend hundreds M$ BEFORE being able to make (copy/paste) game for 50M$. CIG is not different as they started from scratch (12 guys, no studios, 6M$) and have to make everything including massively changing a basic engine. Pledges keep flowing in because MORE new backers are joining everyday, because of SC experience you can't get anywhere else, even in alpha....
Mention of pledge $ vs game entertainment is just false. A backer pledging for a 1K$ capital ship won't be competitive against 5 players using a basic starter package. Better: those 5 players can join as a crew and be gunner, engineer, medic and even pilot of such capital ship.
SC do bring all players together, whatever their pocket deepness, not the opposite.
Star Citizen already offers plenty of gameplay on a very specific setting and a level of fidelity and immersion that no other game can offer, even Elite: Dangerous veteran players are jumping ship and turning into citizens
Ok, so you’re taking Elite dangerous fanboys outrage swap after Odyssey released in an Alpha state as a sign that SC is so much better?

They gave up trying to do that - and are now using Amazons lumberyard engine.
Elite Dangerous was very grindy, for sure; however, the VR was one of the most epic gaming experiences I've ever enjoyed. I won't be touching another space ship title until it has full VR support... heck, even NO MAN'S SKY has that.
VR needs a more linear approach, ED even ran into the issue on first person and decided to dodge the bullet, then SC has a ton of animation work it's probably never going to be a smooth VR experience, it's much easier to do VR for more linear experiences that you can control decently.

In case you haven't noticed I've been saying that for years. Odyssey just so happened to open up the eyes of many Elite content creators which Is funny considering that many of SC biggest haters who've been trying to derrail the project are indeed insecure ED fanboys.
As for Orison, clouds looking great, and still only the first iteration.

Dude, @wizardy never defends anything he says as he does not really game nor does he have a clue as to what he is talking about. You are very much wasting your time on that.

Gotta admit, that was a pretty funny bit.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

I like what I see in SC thus far however, I tend to agree with you. I may very well be dead before the retail version hits the streets. lol.
If you want a new idea, go read an old book.
In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.
