The article goes on about the recent boom of LA's popularity on KR, as a continuous stream and care from the devs SmileGate continue to improve the base game, allowing LA to dodge bullets and rapidly becoming now the most popular RPG in KR.

LA's success after the decay in its first years is given to key factors such as:
  • A continuous effort on its development bringing a constant amount of updates.
  • A soft approach to "pay to win" with LA considered one of the less P2W MMOs in KR.

Out of Korea alone as well, Lost Ark on Twitch is constantly trending on the top of the most viewed titles.

All of this bodes well for the long-term support of this title + the West release. It's on the hands of Amazon to ensure its key aspects transpire on their release of the game, avoiding the max-greedium factor that is already runing LA Russia.

If Amazon handles it well, with the recent upgrades that Smilegate did to the game, LA is set to be a mainstream MMO on the west, tho not very huge because of region-lock ripparino.

I see you went and got yourself moderated from the Steam forums. Maybe try being less confrontational and protective about everything all time. The world won't end if someone doesn't like what you like. You also get the added benefit of lower blood pressure. Just a thought.

Lost Ark, developed by Smilegate, has emerged as the most popular title in the role-playing PC game category in South Ko.

It's success in the west, in the next two years, greatly depends on how P2W it is and if POE gets their act together.  (Last Epoch will not have much impact on the market imo)

So in other words P2W as that's where 'Western player expectations' are in my eyes. These days I am expected to analyse the "greedium factor" in games which I know may not have the same factor in 6 months time. But this is of course the brave new world of wonderful gaming we now live in, why am I complaining? ;)

I have an interest in LA actually it may well prove to be the best MMO release of 2022, though the revenue model may hold me back I won't bother to examine it until launch. Fingers crossed it won't be too "greedium".

I've explained the store as much as I could on the beta impressions post. Check that mate, truth to be told there isn't much to hold you back.

Don't worry about me Constantine I always find something to sniff about, come the launch (which I see now is supposed to be this year) I will give it a good look over. :)

The Koreans (and Asians) in general have a tendency to produce games that I consider to be garbage - repellant P2W games with nightmarish graphics and game worlds that seem to be the by-product of LSD fever dreams.

Totally cool that people love that sort of thing.
    I do not.
I really don't agree about the graphics, but they do sometimes fall foul of being too garish for me. You have to take each game as it comes no matter the country or studio, but so far the only MMO they have made I thought was worth playing was BDO. Beautifully envisaged with anime avatars but very uneastern landscapes from Mediterranean to central Europe to Arabia. I think it may be the best MMO there is for graphics. However I left in the end because of the P2W aspects, so agree with you there. Once LA launches we can check the cash shop and see what we think.
