Riders Republic Beta Starts This Week - But Don't Expect to See It if You Weren't Invited | MMORPG.com

Riders Republic is headed to closed beta this week, with nearly two months left before the game is set to release. Players who have signed up for the beta should expect to have their invites in-hand by now, as preload has started. If you didn't get into the beta, and hoped to see the extreme sports-themed MMO on streams and videos later, think again, as all players in next week's beta test will be under a strict NDA.

I got my invite and am pre-loaded, looking forwards to some extreme sports fun!

I think the game has been built by the same studio that made Steep, which was an amazing winter extreme sports game. It looked amazing, massive open world and some really fun activities. I particularly loved the wingsuit flying, so im glad to see that made its way over.

Riders Republic looks a lot more arcadey but if they can match the gameplay of Steep then I'll be very happy. Also really curious to see how the biking works, I don't think I've played a game where I could ride a bike since Mat Hoffmans Pro BMX on the PS1 (well, and gta5 ofc, but that doesn't count!)

Finally, im interested to see the multiplayer capabilities. Nothing that Ubisoft has said makes me think it's massively multiplayer. Their official website says it is a mass multiplayer playground, which is different from massively multiplayer. They also say the cap is 50 people, which is a long way short of massively multiplayer. But, it may be that the cap of 50 is strictly for the races, it could well be massively multiplayer in the open world. I'll find out on Monday!
