Logged in right now and only 54 in queue, on a popular streamer server!
Down to 42 int he time it took to write this post.
I guess in US when everyone is sleeping? No wonder.
Looking at https://newworldstatus.com/ the lowest queue on EU servers is one and half hour for like 1 or 2 servers. Rest already have 3+ hour queues and rising. And it's not even prime time yet in Europe.
Seems Amazon really doesn't give a damn about EU as usual, haven't added a single extra server since launch.
225k EU players on servers, from which 199k are sitting in a queue LOL!
No was 8:45 am peeps tend to be up at that time granted it's work day but its not 3am in the morn etc
I get your not happy with the launch but I think you are exaggerating a little about how bad the "overall" launch is.
Yesterday I logged my son in at around 12:30pm and when he got in from school around 4pm he was in game.
This is on a busy streamer server.
It does however sound like EU needs more server groups like eu east and west or some such though.

Prime time is now starting in EU and now we are at 233k players on servers and 211k are sitting in a queue, which is going to get much worse in next couple hours when more are coming home from work/school and trying to login.
That is how bad it is in Europe.
Yes, in NA East they nearly doubled the amount of servers within 12 hours on Day one!

Wasn’t EU the largest group of servers by far at launch?
Also, in addition to the servers they previously added, they tweeted earlier that they just launched a “massive “ amount of EU servers.
I know queues suck... but we have to stop with the inferiority complex. My friends are on their 4th server because each day their old one has a 5-10 hour queue. Should be all settled by Sunday when I can login. Or so I hope.
Edit: Looks like another 45 servers added for EU today.

They launched with ~ 250 servers worldwide. There are now over 500 servers... and there are still queues. You think they might have a hit on their hands?
In other news... our company reached the 100 member cap and we now have a second company (Harbingers and Harebringers, Syndicate on Ferri, NA West.)
We own Everfall and our other company Cutlass Keys. All factions have at least 1 territory: Syndicate 3, Marauders 2 and Covenant 1.
We set the trend of very low taxes and everyone else in the server has followed suit. Lots of people enjoying themselves.
Sorry about that troll guy who posted he's hoping for it to crash and burn

Nope. But this afternoon ( EU time) they FINALLY started adding new servers to EU region.

I have been playing MMOs since UO in the 90s. The best launchs i have experienced where done by Sony Online Enternainment on EverQuest 2 expansions. Since at those expansions a lot players comed back to buy and play them, they used to triple the login and game servers for some months, and later when hype got down, they scaled them back.
I do wonder how amazon failed so miserably at this, cause they are a cloud company who sells those scale up and down servers for money right ?

The right hand does not necessity know what the left hand is doing.
it really has been the best launch ive ever experienced in an mmo, or honestly any game really. No disconnects/crashes/constant restarts. Its optimized really well, great framerate etc Been pleasantly surprised
The launch was good. The issue were strategic Server decisions which lead to too much long term issues with a such hyped game.
The server capacity was too low for non-megaserver structure. The merge, transfer strategy was horrible or even non existing. If you do your homework you should know that games lose >75% of their players within the first months and that you should consider this issue with a very high priority. They seem to have completely ignored it. It was the beginning of the end and imho the main reason with the over-engineered chaotic complex grind & Timegate features they have put their focus on.

Sure, Amazon owns and runs AWS, so they have a ton of server power at their beck and call.
However
- They are a young studio with very little experience
- The game runs on a propriatary engine that hasn't been used much
- They've changed their minds about the game so many times, it must be impossible to do proper market research
- No studio has ever got it right. That means there isn't a correct template to follow
Edit: Still up to 6 hours+ wait if you get kicked for any reason.
