I'm sure this won't be exact on all points as it's what I learned from trial and error of just doing it so here's some information that might help clarify matters.
- Open up your (now old) LI panel and appraise your LI's that are slotted. This gives you the barter items you'll need.
- Go to Rivendell, Last Homely House, 2nd floor on the left all the way at the end of the hall is where the new LI vendor is at
- Use the vendor behind the table to pick out your new LI. They all start at lvl 51 so don't worry. After you buy it, click on the vendor again and reforge it to your current rank. This increases the damage and opens up more tracery slots.
- It looks like you'll need to unequip your current LI to place the new one in your equipment slot
- Now drag the weapon up to the flame icon box on the right side of the character panel at the bottom. This will open up a new panel for the weapon showing all the slots you have open and what can go in them.
- Slot names: Mastery boxes are from your classes banner hanging in the front room.
Click on it to open up the class item barter window. Heraldic, Power and Craft are from the banners in the back room.
- Traceries from those banners come in different levels so pay attention to what item level they are and what level range they're for. As a lvl 108 mine were lvl 9's.
- You can now go through them and decide on what 'powers / specials / effects' you want on your weapon. NOTE: Mine wouldn't let me dupe them on my 2 weapons (Javelin and melee) so you need to pay attention on what you buy. I'd suggest you do 1 weapon at a time and then you can open up the character panel to float over the finished weapon to see what's in it as you shop for the next weapon.
Some notes:
- when you grab a tracery from your inventory the appropriate box will 'sparkle' in the panel that you opened up by dragging your weapon to the flame icon.
- It looks like if you do slot a low one by mistake, all you have to do is drag the higher level one over to it for it to take effect
- You can rename your LI when you reforge it. If you don't do it with the first reforge I think you'll have to wait til the next time you've leveled it up enough to do the reforge.
- Now sure how you track the leveling process, might be based on YOUR level and if so than the level range on the weapon is a guide.
- The new weapons ARE stronger than the old. My Javelin is 50% more damage and my melee is 30% so that's good.
- You can appraise your horses bridle, but they won't do replacements for those til sometime in the future.
- If you want to keep using your old LI you can. It won't gain anymore XP and you won't be able to reforge it, also any new one's you have un-identified will stay that way since that's been stopped too. I don't think you'll be able to keep the old LI's forever as I think they said there'd be a cross over period.
