I wrote some long comment about things that are wrong, but it disappeared. Lots of things are not very obvious until you have reached 60 and been there for a while. Many of you will become aware of what a train wreck this game is in the coming weeks.

I imagine it will go like most of the other MMOs have gone? I dont see why it would shut down unless they are just trying to get the fast buck and get out....WOuld Amazon want to take that kind of hit to their reputation?

I seriously doubt they care. If they were only a game company such a thing might matter. As they are far more than that I can easily see them shuttering a venture that did not pan out financially with nary a look back.

I'd be happy if it lasted 2 years! Beyond that, I don't know.

I will admit that this scared me. I am happy with the things I can currently do in the game, but I'm not sure about the future of the game beyond just messing about if they can't do something about this somehow.

That exploit he highlights has been known for 3 weeks or more and it spread like wildfire. It has been abused to take capture points in wars (the totally immobile and invulnerable players still count as a body at a capture point for the purpose of capturing it) and the "fix" they implemented in 1.03 was just a band-aid: it kicks you from the game if you do it for more than 30 seconds but you can still do it for 29 seconds, stop and repeat.

We've taken videos of players doing it (very easy to spot since anyone doing it looks like a statue) at capture points and reported it but haven't heard any response. It undermines the whole concept of territory control that is central to the game.

It's just jaw dropping that something like that has existed, and continues to exist in the game.

    No..really, in a fire.
The problem is that when you've quoted him, what he wrote lives on even after mods delete the original post.

Thanks for this video this guy was great and broken down so even I could understand.

This probably explains why the game is unaffected by how many players are on the screen at once. Instead of the calculations being done on the server, each client is doing it. This spreads out the compute load to the thousands of clients instead of putting it all on the server.

From an article on, ironically, Amazon, about ESO's problems with client side operation, from 2014:

"As of right now, there are two HUGE issues in the game. Widespread duping (and it will get a lot worse when people find out how easy it is), and the client is being trusted with a LOT of things. I will not be saying exactly what, but a simple HEX EDITING program is ENOUGH to allow one to speed hack, teleport, have unlimited rolling AND dodging... Meaning PvP in this game is about to become utter garbage. The PvE is affected as well, but PvP is completely shot.

Apparently ZeniMax did not learn from the folks at Cryptic after they had plenty of issues due to keeping so much clientside. Google "mmogfails" and read up on their disaster. Unless TESO acts fast, I can see the same thing happening here. Also check the comments section for more info. I can't post links in this review." -- https://www.amazon.com/review/R1U46C1NVZVAMV

In 2 years not so much of a New World anymore and in 5 sort of an Old World.
I was thinking about pension checks personally ;)

One thing to bear in mind is that each player can gather everything and craft everything.
So I just LOL at people spamming crap for sale at 5K.

I'll make it when I get there.
All we need is the ability to be able to sell things to ourselves.

    Get on that Dev's ;)

In two years time the bugs will be features, in five years time it will be more cash shop than game. Oh wait, I thought this was an ESO thread, my bad!

It will be interesting to see what MS has done with it in two years since they've taken it over.

Where will NW be in two years?

Definitely bigger, but I will just have to wait and see if it is better.

I don't think MS has any intention on getting down and dirty with ESO unless they do something so controversial that it causes a PR a shitstorm.

Hopefully it will be relatively issue free and still drawing a good deal of interest through continued development.

It just shows that cheaters and exploiters will try to ruin any game.

Pathetic lifeforms who can't play games like they are intended to are breaking them for the majority of legit players, nothing new, that exists since the day games went online.
That such exploits are possible means the game was already broken, as were the others that could be so manipulated since the day games went online. It's unfortunate these issues must often be highlighted by external parties before repaired rather than a system protected from it be implemented preemptively.
