If you want a breakdown of whether these changes are justifiably termed an "overhaul," BazgrimTV has (as usual) a better understanding of what is involved.

Made it through 3 minutes of that.  Sounds like he is very deep in the Echo Chamber of the Ivory Tower. Though he does seem obsessed with this site and thread.

Bhaz often posts transcripts of his streams and I found his reasoning sound about the changes being more adjustments than an overhaul after reading through it.

While definitely a strong defender of Pantheon unlike most knights he will admit that mistakes definitely have been and continue to be made which is unusual for such.

He also presents his side as factually as he is able, will admit if proven wrong later and normally without much snottiness or salt even when others dish it out to him which I can respect.

Yeah, he typically has very concise and factual videos with an easy to follow timeline. He merely shows exactly what the producer's letter states. Not getting any "echo chamber" vibes from that video at all. He generally has a positive attitude which people conflate with white knighting.

The "echo chamber" vibes are how he tries to present a world where external sites are bad and only the true fans can discern the truth.

Let me ask you a question:  The guy obviously read this thread a bunch.   Did he post here and have a discussion?  I mean, he shows it in his video multiple times.  But no, of course an actual dialogue was not his intention at all.  Or maybe he IS here but wants to stay hidden under a second pseudonym... kind of the same thing at the end of the day. If he felt strongly enough about it to make a 20 minute rebuttal video maybe engaging here would have been step one?  But instead we just get a link to the video  from a 1 post 1 day wonder.  Surely just a coincidence!

At the end of the day though, it matters not one iota if MMORPG used the words "complete overhaul" instead of whatever incremental word he preferred.  All that matters is whether or not the game ever releases and then subsequently is fun.

This one is at the top of my "hope list" or at least in the top 3, but after all this time it seems more likely that I win the lottery than see this release in a semi-complete fashion.

I just wanted to point out, VR used the term 'overhaul' in the very article itself.

"We have overhauled these aspects of the game to create better clarity in what individual attributes contribute to, and to promote desirability in attributes that may not otherwise be considered ‘core’ to a given class. By taking a ground-up approach to these improvements, we have also made substantial enhancements to the underlying formulas and sub-stats that enable us to create items with even more nuanced benefits, as well as significant gains to the effects of buffs and debuffs that influence these stats."

This was stated under the 'Attribute and Stats Adjustment'

I don't think it's wrong for MMORPG.com to use the word 'overhaul' and to assume that they have done so, when VR have used it themselves in their own letter. If VR are using the term here with this, who's to say that they haven't overhauled everything and they just aren't saying it?

NGL, unless he was citing the exchange between Brainy and Myself about game development, that I admit was somewhat off track, but a good discussion none the less, the rest of what was said here, could be found on Reddit, or anyplace else for that matter, no reason to think he frequented this site directly.

Except they're using it out of context. Overhaul of a specific aspect isn't the same as "Completely Overhaul" A complete overhaul implies to someone that they're starting over or redesigning as evidenced by early responses in this very thread. Even your comment lacks context by leaving out the preceding sentences.

"The importance of individual stats in Pantheon – be they core attributes, skills, or other modifiers – is paramount to creating the iconic and desirable itemization model we have in mind. Individual point gains should feel like a noticeable improvement, and the tighter we constrain those numbers while enhancing their effects, the more we can ensure that loot maintains value and longevity."

The use of "complete overhaul" in the title was overdramatic and unfortunate but I found the content of the article to be ok. Too much ado about nothing.
Exactly.  It’s what we often see in the Star Citizen forums where certain folks will argue minutia to distract and defend CIG.

Truth be told, I used to be one of the biggest whales for Pantheon, and one of it's biggest fanboy.

I've listened to the most recent podcast and read this and that, and.. Honestly? It's just more words and delay at this point. They can say whatever they want, but in a few months, this project will be 8 years old and it's not even in Alpha at this point. The website & FAQ hasn't been updated in years.

Sorry to say it, but outside looking in? This project is dead, dying, or on life support.
